Interesting to see that it seems ex pats won't get a vote this time. On the surface it seems strange because they are mainly Tory voters, however I think that Tories are worried about getting a bloody nose from ex pat remainers.

I don't think you realise how many working class people do vote Tory and have done certainly since the late 70s. Nothing wrong with being aspirational, it is the contempt shown for people that want to get on that is one of Labour's great undoings. It's not about trying to change our "class" (I am working class), it is about improving our lot. Blair got that and largely addressed it but since then, back to normal.

If I could go back and do my post again I would have put 'faux' rather than 'aspiring' as that is what i really meant - nothing wrong with improving your lot as you say - and didn't mention working class Tories as I was trying to describe Willo and his ilk

It is absolutely imperative that we have certainty and stability through Brexit negotiations and beyond.
The choice is between stable and strong leadership by Mrs May and a Conservative government or a weak and unstable coalition led by Corbyn and his comrades.

Nonsense, what I want is policies, statements of commitment and manifesto pledges. I could care less about the alleged personality traits and why the UK is better if 'x' is in charge.

Also, I want to hear from my local candidates who've been suspiciously quiet and done f**k all (except the Greens who at least seem to be making an effort to campaign).

Anyone who is voting based on who they think might make a better, stronger stable leader is missing the entire point of elections.

Policy not personality.

I would have said for one, Kermit's post but to be fair he has come back and expanded on his original post.

Also we have this little gem

Never understood why expats get the vote. Seems an odd concept.

I am not sure who they would vote for if not Tories? UKIP seem to be in free fall, certainly at the moment and unfortunately Tim Farron is like a wet lettuce.

What I'd like to know is why the shower that trade under the name 'Labour' haven't been done under trade description act.
Real Labour died.
Used to have people of discretion & were trustworthy.
Proper party that used to be.

In terms of the Brexit negotiation...which is why this election is even taking place.. I'd say personality does play a part. If you are willing to walk away....which Labour have pretty much ruled out then the chances of actually cutting a reasonable deal become higher.

Labour's policy on Brexit is to essentially lie to the population....no freedom of movement but the single market and customs union.....In other words, they would move on freedom of movement citing 'jobs' and so on.

Essentially liars.

You don't win at poker by always playing safe....and we are essentially entering a time period very much like that.

Well dismissing evidence is normal when it contradicts your position.

I agree, expats should lose the vote.

If you trade in this country for another....outside of exceptions like medical reasons....then this country should also trade you in.
