Genuine question; are all you Brexiteers genuinely happy with how things seem to be going currently? It was always going to be like this. So on that basis yeah. I wasn't really expecting those knob head eurocrats to go "take what you like Britain, and God bless you all".

What matters is the detail of the final deal, if there is one. Until then all else is speculation and posturing by both sides. Of course I would like a deal but we must be prepared to walk away if it is not right. I have a feeling that once the German elections are out the way and assuming that Merkel wins she will be ready to negotiate.

I wasn't a brexiteer, but the longer this childish threatening/bullying goes on, the more in favour of just terminating the talks and walking away I am. It will be very painful, but you can't negotiate with some people (particularly those who try to hold you to ransom by refusing to discuss any of the multiple points that need discussion until you agree to their demands on something else) and it just seems a waste of everyone's time tbf the three things the EU want sorted first are very reasonable. The Irish border question; the status of Brits abroad and EU citizens here and whether we are going to pay, and how much, what we signed a contract to until 2020? They are taking a right approach imo and we are fudging. Edited by Kermit8 (13 Sep 2017 12.42pm)

Edited by Kermit8 (13 Sep 2017 12.42pm) The Irish border they now appear to be saying is our problem, i.e. "you propose a solution, we'll tell you it's inadequate" Citizens' status the UK tried to bottom out even before Article 50, but were spurned The money side, I think we've always said "we'll pay what we owe" but it seems they want "you'll pay what we tell you to pay" with no indicator of where the figures came from. Seems about as far from reasonable as you could get

Of course periodically, plenty of Brexiters have been varied on what that figure is, or whether we should even pay anything. Both sides have different priorities and agendas, and probably all c**ts (being politicians).

In fairness, I don't think anyone really knows what they're doing, what they'll settle for or what the consequences will be. Because there isn't really any models to make predictions on.

Like the Tories. The Tories stance is very clear. Full Brexit. Labour's position on Brexit has been nothing short of farcical. It changes from one week to the next in a desperate attempt to appeal to their target voters.

Juncker has announced today plans to federalise Europe further with a single president, a European finance minister who can intervene in each country's affairs, a European army and the standardising of Schengen and the Euro among all EU nations. Showing a clear lack of understanding that those were the exact reasons we left, he went on to say we would regret leaving. Thank God we are. Edited by Canterbury Palace (13 Sep 2017 4.08pm)
