Latest interview with Mike Yeadon discussing the vaccine and herd immunity. Very sensible chap, excellent interview, zero histrionics. More people should be listening to him.

I suspect it will be for a good while yet, at least until after vaccination certificates become compulsory before reservations are accepted, and it is established that vaccination prevents both the disease effects and transmission. Airlines won't want to take risks and need to reassure people it's safe to fly as much in their commercial interests as for any public concerns. Putting up with a little discomfort seems a small price to pay, but that choice will always be there. Yes this was my point yesterday. They can’t know or know by how much yet. Gradually they’re dropping the comments on the virus going away and being defeated etc. Not a coincidence but some won’t even notice. If you had to wear a real mask and not a piece of cloth or plastic then I’d respect it a lot more. It’s what I’d wear, but being able to breathe and not suffocate, taking cheeky breaths, as everyone is going to do, would mean wearing one with valves on, exhaling my air, which is what you need to do to be able to breathe for hours in a cloth or plastic covering. You have to breathe in and out into the air in the aeroplane whatever, unless you take a tank of oxygen with you. If you’re flying long haul then the cost of a proper mask isn’t expensive, relatively.

My sympathies to your family AS. Let’s hope the situation improves. It's not exactly only us. Hard to say this but he was too much for us to handle and stays with us sometimes, and in care sometimes. My missus blames the vaccines, it could be coincidental. You can't blame her - literally after childhood vaccines he got a mysterious illness which led to severe developmental and brain damage. This debate rumbles on and is in the back of everyone's mind with this vaccine, so I thought I'd share it. I've a big issue with vaccinating the other kids, which is hardly surprising.

I see Gavin Williamson has been on LBC being a complete moron this morning. "Well I just reckon we've got the very best people in this country and we've obviously got the best medical regulator, much better than the French have, much better than the Belgians have, much better than the Americans have. That doesn't surprise me at all because we're a much better country than every single one of them."
We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold... |

If you’re flying long haul then the cost of a proper mask isn’t expensive, relatively. Wearing a cloth mask isn't though to protect you! It's to protect others FROM you! So long as everyone does it, everyone is protected. You included. The masks that directly protect you are only needed in high-risk areas where there is a heavy viral load in the air from people known to have the disease. The cloth masks will stop coughs and sneezes, by the few who are infected, from spreading any virus far and wide by catching most of it in the mask, thus lessening transmission. It's probably the reason why cold and flu infections are lower this year. So not wearing a mask in the company of others who do won't impact you at all. It's just very selfish.
