According to the Mail Darren Gough is being lined up to take over a Yorkshire to sort this mess out.

I will start the clock running now.

How long before somebody makes some historic allegations about him and he decides to withdraw his application?

Yeah, but Dolphin, you must remember this honest man is such a sensitive soul. I mean he said that insensitive words made him consider killing himself.

His words must be believed....because...feck knows! Reasons ideological? So the virtual signallers can feel good about their fantasies?

He will be rewarded and....as we have seen people will lose their livelihoods.

No they won't. His words are being investigated and if found to be true, action taken.

This scrutiny of Rafiq, as though it somehow diminishes the situation he has revealed, might provide some kind of sanctimonious satisfaction to those who believe this all to be a fraud, but it is just a sideshow.

Of course it has to be investigated and IF proven action taken. However action appears to have been taken on his word. Is this right? Can he be believed? Who knows. What I do know he is not an upstanding Muslim as was initially trying to be portrayed, drinking, betting all goes against the preaching of Islam doesn’t it?

I had several drinks with Mr Gough when England toured pakistan in 2000. Can tell you many stories but nothing of interest to this thread

How much worse can this episode get?

Its gone way way over the top.

I can see some of the players departing, I wouldn't stay there.

Race in cricket? Just like other sports but society changes and we evolve.

Lord Patel like Priti, should have stayed in the sweet shop.

Given how deep this has gone into Yorkshire Cricket Club one has to wonder how long any existing senior players can hang in there (or indeed want to remain)

It'll have to be on a very tight budget though, I guess he's on decent money at TS.

Does it?

I don't see how anyone, other than those taking the action, can know.

I would hope that investigations and interviews would take place to verify and understand.

What Rafiq has done is open a door and allowed those with closed eyes and ears to see and hear what is inside.

His own character, whatever it may be, is not a direct issue. Indeed, from all I heard, he hasn't attempted to portray himself as anything special and accepted he was part of the problem.

It's others who built him up, to prepare him for the inevitable knockdown so beloved of the tabloids.

That was my point a while back really.
His own stupidity makes what he has complained about appear to be less important.
Whilst I do not agree with the knee jerk over reaction to what he said there are without doubt problems that need resolving but he has diluted them in my mind.
Ten women for example claim to be assaulted but only five have.
The five that haven't diminish the real claims of those who were.

Oh - and Gough will have done something wrong without a shadow of a doubt and he too will be cancelled for something he said ten years ago or more.

Action taken beyond the 20 odd people, who may or may not have done anything, probably having to move and find new school for their kids?
It’ll be interesting to see, in due course, if similar stories emerge about the IPL; not in a whataboutery way but more to establish whether this is endemic in the game although, of course, county players spend much more time together which encourages cliques to develop.

The 16 coaches / medics who have just been fired - one would assume that even if they had their existing contracts paid up as part of their settlement - where are they supposed to go to look for work ? if your a county cricket coach you would consider that your next opportunity is likely to be with another county cricket side, how likely is it that another county cricket side is going to be willing to take on someone who's name has now been tarnished by being dismissed by Yorkshire in relation to a racism investigation?
