Hodgson let slip in a press conference that he and Parish had been trying to persuade the Americans to spend.

We've gotten ourselves into an utter mess with the American owners. They aren't interested in investing in the playing squad.

and how do you know, sorry but you think the 2 yanks have as much as who, they have shares they have how many billions, they have in my eye no better than bottom half of the prem we are no were near the top

Its not likely to be the yanks personal money that is spent on players so why do they need to be convinced?
Answer they don't. Parish has a controlling interest and is in charge day to day. If he chooses to spend money the club generates on players (AWB money/Sky money/overseas tv deal money/etc/etc) then he will. People keep blaming the Americans for not signing players. None of us know this is the case and in fact the way the leadership structure is set up at Palace it is far far more likely that it is Parish that wont spend the money, you know what with him being in charge of budget and expenditure!

Parish does not have a controlling interest - the two American's do. From what I have understood, they pushed certainly for the signing of Benteke and possibly Sakko and Parish is understandably not keen to repeat those very costly signings/mistakes. Equally, given the issues over the ownership, it is not at all surprising funds are limited until that is clarified. Actually, Palace were very savvy in the market last summer around Cahill, Ayew and McCarthy and I suspect it will be a similar approach this January. Not at all surprising in my view.

Are you sure about that? What about the Allardyce January window survival budget? That was not from club funds and we’ve been behind on the money front ever since. If it isn’t the Americans’ money, which it must’ve been because they’ve been paid back recently, then it’s bank loans, which have been paid back recently, which leads me into question why we’re borrowing money from a bank when 2 wealthy owners can loan it for nothing. The fact is these Americans are not driving the club forward with the stadium or the squad, which was the point in the beginning. We knew they’d be doing it to eventually sell for a profit, but they’re not willing to do it. I read they’re not sold on investing in Prem football on a pure business level. Well that shows. You either do it in a big west or not. The scope is definitely there. It’s being the next buyer I’d be concerned about, although 2 other stands are a joke and the holmesdale has structural issues.

But wasn’t it Parish that said fans shouldn’t be happy with survival year on year? Don’t get me wrong I have seen the really bad times but perhaps the chairman should think before he speaks

And so far he’s correct. 9th!!

People are missing the point. They keep saying 9th place yeah that is excellent. But the bigger problem is this gives the owners more reason to think we don't need to invest if we are in the top half of the table. This is dangerous. What happens next year? "don't worry we were fine with no real signings we should be okay this year." A mentality like that could lead to relegation which is something no one wants.

Also why are we 9th? Most of the time it is Guaita who has saved us. Will probably win POTY. If it weren't for his saves we would be closer to the bottom than the top half that's for sure.

And why are people complaining to those who are not happy? Many or most are customers they are ST holders/members. They spend a fortune to get to games. They have a right to vent if they feel they aren't getting value for the money which is in fact the case as mentioned by points such as: stadium issues, ticket prices rising year on year but quality of football/players staying the same.

The fans aren't expecting us to buy Timo Werner. We would be happy even if all our buys were says loans but filled the positions that need cover and could improve our squad. Even if that is not possible young players like Kirby and others getting game time. Not playing week in week out. But getting minutes off the bench.

Before someone says how we are not a rich club. Well we pay Zaha, Meyer, Sakho, Benteke,Cahill £80k plus. Benteke and Meyer are reportedly on £120k a week. Not bad for a club who tries to escape relegation year on year. By some of our wages you would think we are a UCL/Europa team

Members and ST holders are customers as well. As they are buying the service which Crystal Palace are selling their tickets, memberships and ST.

I get that. But look at our squad. It needs more younger players. The midfield can be very slow. We always hear of youth the only one who managed to get a chance was Pierrick others like Mitchell, Kirby, Daly couldn't even get a sub appearance off the bench which shows that will they ever get a chance at Palace more regularly? Probably not so investment is the only solution which also seems very unlikely

I get your point on this but for me I just would like the bosses Roy & Ray,take the season in 3 part....pre-Christmas period games .....then the Christmas period plus Jan Transfer window games......then onto the end of the season...
And take 3 possibly 4 youngsters that Derry Ray & Roy think that could make it possibly with us or with other teams, and for the 3 tiers of the season use 1 youth player in some of the games in that third, either be it game minutes or just training with the first team, then this should surely show the power's that be that the youth coming thru are actually gonna make it,if not then get a scounting system to go and find either the next A1B,or Max Aarons or Jordan Sancho for example.
So if we are to continue as a mid-table established Prem team, and not that we have to spend Big in 2 Window's and then Bargain basement for the next 6.
I know this is probably the business model that all teams are trying to get to,but come on let's get with the time's and realise that we ARE a premierleague team, and not a yo-yo club.
And to answer the original question.....Yeah Im dam pleased with the board, coz without them we would never have had the class of Chamakh grace our pitch,or even have had Gayle on the Pitch for the Crystanbull comeback,or the disasterous memory of Pardews "Shimmy Dance" at the cup final.
Cheers CPFC2010........rolling onto 2020 and beyond.

Whilst you are correct that Parish doesn't have a controlling interest I believe that the oft touted story that it was the Americans that wanted to buy Benteke to be untrue as I doubt whether they had even heard of him
