Indeed, just as well we weren't bogged down with EU bureaucracy It would probably still be being discussed in Strasbourg & Brussels.

That literally had nothing to do with it.

Erm, yes actually it very much did. The UK managed to secure faster approval of a vaccine because we weren't tied down to EU diktats & regulations.

Sigh. It's this kind of misunderstanding of reality which led to Brexit in the first place.

"Under EU rules, a vaccine must be authorised by the EMA but individual countries can use an emergency procedure that allows them to distribute a vaccine for temporary use in their domestic market.

Britain is still subject to those EU rules during the post-Brexit transition period which runs until the end of the year.

The UK’s own medicines regulator, the MHRA, confirmed this in a statement last month.

The MHRA is well-regarded as world leader in the regulation of medicine, and it has certainly chosen to move faster with vaccine approval than the EMA.

But it didn’t have to rely on Brexit to do that.

For example the European Commission confirmed on Monday that Hungary - an EU member - could use a Russian Covid vaccine in its domestic market if it chose to do so.

The EMA says it is using a slightly slower method for licencing than the UK which it considers to be “the most appropriate regulatory mechanism for use in the current pandemic emergency, to grant all EU citizens’ access to a vaccine and to underpin mass vaccination campaigns.”

Yeah, it was all a 'misunderstanding of reality' about the EU that saw legions want to leave it.

At least your corporate commiedom makes me smile I suppose.

Perhaps if you got off your knees you'd be able to see other perspectives different from your own indoctrination.

It's a perfect example of someone thinking something is the fault of the EU when it literally wasn't.

There are plenty of instances of people blaming the EU for something when it wasn't at all. The immigration rules being the biggest one.

I doubt that, and we wait to see if much haste less speed does not apply here.

The EU’s drug regulator urged members states not to grant “hasty” approvals.

Nobody will answer this question that if it’s spreading with or without taking a vaccine, because this vaccine reduces symptoms rather than making people immune, then why are the hysterical bothered if people in their vicinity haven’t had the vaccine?

If the vaccine only reduces symptoms and doesn't provide immunity then it will mean that the hospitals will still be clogged up with numbnuts who refuse to get vaccinated because they believe they know better than medical science.

There are and were plenty of reasons to criticise the EU and its rulebooks. He made a point about EU bureaucracy. You mentioned 'temporary' allowance...how nice of them.

The idea that a sovereign nation even needs to notice foreign 'allowances' is absurd in the first place.

He was completely wrong on his point though.

There are and were reasons to criticise the EU but that wasn't one of them.

You have a habit of sticking up for people that are completely wrong and shouting down people that are right don't you? Weird little habit.
