You should have had more faith in your guru prognosticator, or did these odds pop up after his prediction?

It's certainly time to panic. Eight points from the last thirty six available. Until the Nottingham Forest game, just before the World Cup, going well. The January transfer window was presumably conducted in the belief that relgation was not an issue. It certainly is a possibility now.

I can't understand why the manager will not try Edouard and Mateta together up front. They can't do worse than not get a shot on target in ninety minutes. If they manage that, it might go in.

For the remaining home games, assuming all players are available, I'd like to see:

Guaita (the back up, or lack of it, for him is unbelievably thin. Why not recall Butland from Man Utd on loan?)
Clyne, Andersen, Guehi, Mitchell
Zaha,Doucoure,Eze, Olise
Mateta, Edouard.

I don't want Ayew anywhere near the starting eleven.

Said it on another thread before but it's since got even worse. Our xG is currently second worst in the league above only Bournemouth. It's now less than a goal a game which is damning.

Everton, West Ham and Leeds all have much better which suggests if they start finishing they'll pick up points quickly.

We on the other hand continue to blame our strikers bad finishing when the reality is we're creating barely anything so it doesn't really matter who we play up top.

It's not sustainable as although I think our defence is pretty solid they can't be expected to continuously keep a clean sheet in order to ensure we gain any points.

Until we start actually creating decent chances I won't blame any of our strikers.

I wouldn't be against 442 except there's no way we could function with Ezeb in that role, we'd be overrun. Hughes would be my partner for Doucoure.

If i wanted to win the bet, i wouldn't be wanting PV sacked would i, i want them to stay up come what may, but i think we would have a better chance without him

Ayew gets a lot of stick, unfairly at times.
Not sure we can afford to keep playing Zaha, Eze and Olise together given the need to get results and the 3 above would do well to match consistently his work rate.

If we are able to comfortably compete and finish mid table, without looking behind us all season, without breaking the bank.... then who cares if it's not expansive, played out the back football...

I would even be happy if they did that from time to time .....

He did earlier in the season I seem to recall, although I can't remember in which match. I believe the general consensus at the time was, "let's not try that again"
