Playing the 10 men of one of the worst teams in the division is not the same as playing the best team in the division. Roy tactics will be invaluable on Sunday. Play against them to our "strengths" and we could get tonked.

Concede 65% possession, defend stoutly and hit on the break and we could do a rare one on Spurs. And...

This site will be stuffed with people saying: yeah we won, but we were lucky/played awful/would have been different had they not hit the woodwork etc.

Yep! Makes you wonder how many Palace fans are on this site at times.

We just need to do to Spurs what they did to Arsenal namely as you say "concede 65% possession, defend stoutly, and hit on the break".

I don't recall people saying how lucky or boring Spurs were in that game. It was typical Jose tactics (which I see as a refined form of Cloughie - think Liverpool and Hamburg in the European Cup and their 4-0 tonking of Manure at Old Trafford with about 10% possession).

The last thing we need to do is go gungho at Spurs because they will murder us if we try that.

I’m not a Roy fan as I have posted many times, however I will give him credit for changing his tactics completely this year. He has gone from a 4-3-3/4-5-1 dependent upon who we are playing to a 4-4-2 which has improved our forward play dramatically.

It has also had a direct impact on how Zaha is playing and you only have to look at his goal return to see that. Yes, we still have the same midfield issues in that his old favourites are more or less finished at this level, however Eze has compensated a little for that.

I believe we are probably one decent young centre half and one young tenacious midfielder away from being a decent side this season. Next season will need some further changes because we can’t keep giving contract extensions to tired old 30+ year old players.

Ultimately I think we need 4 players, winger, striker, midfielder and CH.

As for Roy, for me he needs to get PVA’s defending sorted out or get Mitchell back or get a new left back and he needs to resolve our midfield issues, because that is still very much our weak point.

He needs to get Luka off the pitch until he stops passing to the opposition.

As I said, the midfield is the weak point of our side.

Roy supporter - "one decision went against us that's why we lost"
Anti-Roy "the only reason we won is because a decision went our way"

I so love football, we all just see what we want to see.

This lot sounds so much like Stoke fans during the Pulis era there and that club was in much better shape than us.

Would love our conversations on here to move on, be a bit more constructive and discuss the manager we would like post Roy. (and just hope we are still in this division when the transition happens).

Maybe off of the Roy topic, but relevant I think - here's what a Weed fan said in the local online paper about their result last night ;

'' Wake up people, Potter has had long enough and time is running out and I'm getting fed up watching this crap. ''

Clearly an ideal choice when Roy goes then.

Brighton removed Hughton from his duties as their ambition was greater than just survival and Hughton by his own admission isn't the most expansive of managers.Hughton got Brighton promoted, they finished 15th in their first season in the PL and 17th the season before last which was Hughton's last season at the club.

Appointed Potter to play a more expansive game and last season they finished 15th.
