After what he said, it's not surprising the Royal College were hounded for a response.
The news agencies collectively start to work flat out as soon as something like this emerges.

No, he has been discredited because he didn’t follow the party line. His medical qualifications are not in doubt.

Also, with regard to describing himself as Chairman he said Chair of the pathology dept not the whole college so this has been mis-reported. He is a bona fide medic and his opinion is as valid as any other practitioner.
