It’s a view held by many, but not all. He is right to say that the right to protest should be respected, alongside the rights of others to peacefully remember be respected by any protesting. This seems to have understood by everyone involved, the police included, with the exception of those minorities intent on confrontation. I don’t though see why protesters should be condemned for campaigning against the whole concept of the state of Israel. It was a political construct and political constructs can be reversed, however unlikely that might be in reality. It’s not anti-Semitic to do so. It’s anti-Zionism. If a reasonable compromise is ever going to be found then both sides must state their ultimate positions before there is any way of knowing where the middle is. I think that’s all that’s involved here.
