I think that for a long time the choosing of a manager has been difficult for SP The uncertainty is palpable and we are in the same position as before Frank deBoer was announced ; waiting until early June puts the club and the incoming manager at a disadvantage in my opinion. Why let Roy leave without a replacement line up? If reports are correct that Frank Lampard turned us down then move on. Nuno Santos sacked by Wolves has proved he has the ability to get Wolves into the top half and maintain a premier league club despite losing players to Liverpool, Spurs and injury

Apparently it’s Lampard but due to some contractual issues he had with Chelsea it can’t be announced until early June.

It may well be that Parish is telling it like it is, and he has nobody lined up but is confident that its a good market for us right now. Alternatively, Parish isn't telling the truth, but to be fair he's hardly going to go on the radio and say any of: 'I had a verbal agreement with Lampard, let Roy leave as a result, but now Lampard has blown me out, leaving me high and dry'. 'I've been chatting up Dyche/Cooper/Ishmael/Frank for six weeks now and he's gagging to join, but I haven't reached agreement with his current club yet, so keep that to yourself'. 'The new man is all signed up but if I announce that now then his last employer will know that he has found work before the date specified in his severance package, so it'll cost him dough. What do you mean they'll connect what I've just said to their former manager when I do eventually announce his appointment? Oh'.

Whether or not he's being truthful is up for debate but what would be the motivation behind claiming they didn't even start interviews until the end of the season if they had? What does he gain from that other than bringing himself in for criticism?

What does he gain from that other than bringing himself in for criticism? Principally I'd think that would be as per my second abs third non-quotes. If the new man is in a job now or hasn't reached the date when he's free to find new work. If he says he's interviewed now then the new man could be for the high jump from his last club once he is announced. I suppose its possible that Lampard or Howe were interviewed and offered the job but turned us down. Parish wouldn't want to advertise that fact if so. For one thing it'd undermine whoever we do appoint if it's known he wasn't first choice. Edited by TheBigToePunt (26 May 2021 6.55pm)

They did interview candidate but were turned down. I'm saying there seems to be no motivation for claiming they haven't even started interviewing candidates yet if they've already appointed Frank Lampard.

Hmm So, because YOU start a thread stating we have signed a manager on a 3yr contract, you, want us to take it as gospel? . . . & you wonder why posters on here dont believe a single word you post. Edited by eagleman13 (26 May 2021 6.06pm) TBF I think Dazza has already stated that if Lampard doesn’t get the job he will apologise and will not post again ( I think this is correct but personally would like him to continue). Of course if Lampard does get the job, I hope people will apologise to Dazza. Although I rather suspect it will be “ a lucky guess” etc.

Sorry, just edited my last post while you posted. It might be that he does not want to let it be known that he has interviewed anyone before a certain date in case the interviewee is currently employed or isn't allowed to find work yet following a severance package.

I think this could well be the case, but seems to be everyone on our list, so no further forward
