We are relying on three words right now. Three worse teams. Whilst I share frustrations with our transfer policy as I’m sure we all do. But what clubs are strengthening? Every year around this time we hear how much better Burnley, Watford, Bournemouth, Brighton, Southampton etc are, and pretty much every year we finish higher than them all Strengthening means just that, not just buying players

My worry is the apparent lack of forward planning which has only really become obvious in this and last season. If the issues I pointed out aren't addressed, we're in schtuck.

Look how much Wet Spam spent and we did the double over them even though they probably had a stronger team than us. It's not just a question of strengthening rather than buying, it's also bringing in players who will fight hard in every game so that we can continue to punch above our weight.

That is my broader concern too. We have an aging team with a number on really expensive contracts. That is unsustainable as the club clearly already knows. We seem, finally, to be addressing that but until we are rid of Sahko, Benteke, and possibly even Zaha, I think we will struggle sufficiently to restructure the squad and stay up. I think we also need to have a system of play in place so that every time we change managers we don't have to swap out a bunch of players who don't fit. I remember reading an interesting piece about Seville looking at the period after their financial strife. The article claimed they had a fairly consistent style of play, and focused on aiming for the top half of the league rather than trying to push on. This gave them sufficient solidity to stay up, without risking too much financially in an attempt to move further up the table, and any extra league places or cup runs were welcomed.
If you come to a fork in the road, take it. |

yes i understand the worry's and yes would like a nice signing or 2,but the point is other clubs have the same problems, hence why we finish above them because we do have a squad better than people think

Last season, we never lower than 16th at any time. We are a hard team to breakdown and beat, if you want to find the relegation candidates always look for the goal difference stats.

This is so, I'd say Guaita is responsible for 8 points with his performances, which is great obviously, but wouldn't it be nice to see those points accumulated through attacking play and goal scoring?

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Are you happy with the board/owners?' by Midlands Eagle Firstly, it is great the leap we have taken to stay in the EPL for a long period of time. For that we are very grateful. However, as we have been an established EPL team surely our goal should be an established top 10 side. I just feel the owners feel that we are in the EPL that is all what matters and we can get away with little investment. Ticket prices rise year on year but the quality of football from Palace is the same and no real investment in new players. People might say Palace have no money! Well they do but they choose not to spend it (mostly fault of American owners) What are your thoughts of Palace the gold and the bad?
