Why? Just to point out that the fact you were unaware before watching your programme is no sign that this is a hidden issue. It is immensely well known. It is, however, worth considering the relative numbers involved when thinking about the social and economic effects on each region.

This is highly informative if you really care For example, the most important source of slaves in medieval Europe was the coast of Bosnia on the Eastern shores of the Adriatic Sea. The word ‘slave’ is derived from ‘sclavus’ meaning ‘slav’, the ethnic name for the inhabitants of this region.

Who is lying or telling half truths? If you are claiming me then back that up instead of slurring me. Guess what, I too studied. West African history at Degree level.

FYI, I did not enjoy being treated like a slave in Saudi Arabia where the Chairman implied he wanted to take away my passport. I particularly hated the way the Indians were treated there. It seems some memories are lasting and define the way people operate.

I don't think you're a caricature, which is how this is usually presented. No, this rests on a spectrum as many things do. I just view you as having certain biases. I also have biases, just not yours....and I regard them as objectively closer to the truth. Edited by Stirlingsays (08 Mar 2021 9.26pm)

The call of the dollar was bigger than your conscience?

The tribal nature isn’t easy to understand without experiencing it. I went as a Director of a major consulting and accountancy firm. I was used to being respected. I was particularly unprepared for the way my, similarly senior, Indian colleagues would be treated. I didn’t go for the money but for the experience. The first privatisation. Right up my street having previously done the same in Romania.
