Who has the greater need, us because we need the money to balance the books or United to get the best right back in the Premiership? Possibly it's a deal that suits us both equally Originally posted by Gary St.Andrews
Let’s start with United, they are desperate to get a quality right back as they have not got one. Stumbling block is the fee, they are playing the “ unsettle player and get him on the cheap trick” It's probably a trick that they learnt from us in our lengthy negotiations with Liverpool for both Sakho and Benteke that dragged on for an eternity whilst trying to both unsettle the player and drive the price down - the latter of which was unsuccessful Originally posted by Gary St.Andrews
Now to us, where do I start? Do we need the money and there are lots on here who think they are accountants. There actually are a few people on here who are accountants and quite a few more who are able to read and understand Balance Sheets to an extent that they are able to make a reasonable judgement

Sorry, i didn't know you had inside information.

I concur with these sentiments. In fairness, I was one of them. At the time I thought he was ahead of his contemporaries for the second spot for a while. That was a long time ago and short lived. A lot has changed, not least the complete evaporation of his pace.

Sorry, i didn't know you had inside information. You don't need any to know that a player with three years on his contract goes nowhere if the club says so. The following season, he might have more leverage.

Yes. I thought I'd just debunk all the rubbish you have posted one bit at a time first. If the 100 million materialises then great. Coming from you, that's rich. My postings on this thread have been largely challenging the crap that you persist in spouting. If there's any debunking going on I think it's me that's doing it.

At some point the whole football bubble bursts. AWB is undoubtedly a talent, but is unproven and as it stands a one season wonder. £50million is crazy money for someone who is unproven. Palace are a selling club, less so than in previous years but a selling club none the less. Simon Jordan for all his faults saw this with the academy and geared us up with a youth structure. It’s no different to the 80’s/90’s/00’s where the best players were ones brought through or signed cheap and then allowed to move on for the right profit to benefit the team. The fact it was reinvested poorly isn’t always down to the chairman. But AWB will join a line - Sansom, Wright, Jansen, Johnson, Moses, Zaha, Bolasie, etc. All sold for one reason or another. Since our time in the Premier we’ve sold one player you would call a vital cog or star - Bolasie. And look what happened there. Parish is damned if he does and damned if he doesn’t. He backs a manager and they can get it wrong, he doesn’t and he’s being tight. Also on the accounts - the ones filed deal with things that happened 9-21 months before, so they can only give indications as to the current state. The accountant in me says take the £50 million. The supporter in me says take the £50 million as his head has been turned and reinvest it wisely. Palace do not suit “marquis’ signings: name the last “big” one that worked out. We are basically Wood Yes AWB is a wonderful player, but I don’t think a right back is our primary need at the moment.

I see that yet another thread has gone the same as others. A slanging/insults thread. Where's he who must be obeyed when you need him or has he got a new favourite to protect. Just asking like.
This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

I know of a few accountants and solicitors, and a good one is about as rare as rocking horse s***!

Edited by robdave2k (22 Jun 2019 11.57am) We have had a lot of scruffs and mongrels then. We have been saying that the football bubble will burst for 20 years now, are you going to say “ I told you so” in 20 years time?
