Wisbech, it’s not a case of returning to the 1950s; it’s about foreign influences being imported and clashing with our culture, which some of us would like to maintain. So, our society now has to try and cope with FGM, arranged marriages, honour killings, grooming gangs, international drug wars, protests relating to events which we are not involved in. And if anybody complains then the normal insults are lobbed out. Our culture will be maintained. You are either just scaremongering or poorly informed. FGM is illegal. We don’t and won’t have to cope with it. People can decide who they marry in whichever way they wish. Forced marriage is though illegal. Killing is illegal. Trading drugs is illegal. Protesting is a right linked to freedom of speech. Something the right often protest about. Grooming is illegal. You are free to complain but you must anticipate being called out too.

I wasn’t there. Were you? I heard the police describe their operation. They monitored over 2000 ctv screens accompanied by the CPS who advised them in real time whether any observed incident was prosecutable so the officers on the scene could be guided. The primary problems arose with the counter protesters, who included well known trouble makers with histories of arrests at similar events. A knife, a baton and drugs have been found. All marches were observed from the moment people started to arrive. So you cannot dismiss this as something dreamt up by the media. It’s what the police saw. Some people were there just to stir up trouble. I was, were you? At times you really post bollux. You have NO idea what is happening, you believe your 'trusted' source the bbc. They dish out their biased bullshyte. You are not worth engaging with. Ever. Again. Edited by eagleman13 (11 Nov 2023 7.23pm)
This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

Changing what you can change and embracing what you cannot seems to me the recipe for a contented life, whatever minority you are part of. And we are all minorities in some way.

My point is that we didn’t have these as problems in the past. Consequently our culture has changed for the worst (in my opinion). Take today, our British culture would not entertain a protest during a remembrance event, yet a foreign war protest takes preference over our desires due to the influx of people from the Middle East, assisted by the those who like a march (any march will do for some people).
hats off to palace, they were always gonna be louder, and hate to say it but they were impressive ALL bouncing and singing. |

As you know I don’t use the colour of anyone’s skin as a way to categorise them as I believe it’s both divisive and dangerous. Nevertheless, I am wondering where this assertion comes from, because it isn’t true. The only non Anglo-Saxon heritage in my bloodline, which has been traced back to before 1800, that I am aware of, is a distant relative who was believed to have been born in France.

Our culture would not have interfered with anyone’s right to protest in the past anymore than it did today. It didn’t protest during the Remembrance event. It took place on a Saturday as it has done for several weeks now. From all I know most of the protesters are genuinely concerned about the situation in Gaza and want our government to change their position. They don’t support terrorism, wherever it comes from. They might support the innocent people in Gaza but not Hamas. Getting such a change is urgent and missing a Saturday must have seemed like a wasted opportunity. I think respect was shown to all, by all, with the exception of those counter protesters who tried to stir up trouble. The police seemed to have managed things well.

He might just have seen rather more than any one individual in the middle of a crowd. I know whose opinion I would trust.

Over 10k reported as being killed in Gaza. Reality much much more. What was the known number of Hamas ops? Surely nowhere near that 10k mark. Do they not think that this level of destruction is enough to bury Hamas for a very long time?

Again, the momentum is with the protesters rather than remembering our dead.

I push PR because it is fairer and would result in the level of opinions being better valued. Today we have factions wrestling for control over major parties in order to gain more influence over the direction we take than the level of their support justifies. Yes, it would result in continuous middle of the road governments, but as that’s what most people are that’s what we need and deserve. Small parties, on the extremes, will get heard and sometimes into coalitions where they can advance their arguments more strongly. It would result in a very much better situation than we have now and deliver positive outcomes. There would be much less time spent undoing what the last lot did, and much smaller course corrections. It might feel boring but we could stop promising jam tomorrow that never arrives and actually start to build, slowly but surely.

Again, the momentum is with the protesters rather than remembering our dead. I don’t feel that at all. I think remembrance actually got more attention this year, because of the publicity.
