Rubbish.

It was a brilliant end result, it was not a brilliant performance. It was another crap performance. Newcastle had 18 shots, we had 3.

We had one shot on target, which was a penalty.

When you win 1-0 after having 1 shot on target, a set piece, then you were damn lucky.

When you claim that is a brilliant performance you look downright foolish.

100% this.
We should've been battered today but got lucky. Very lucky.

Spot on Painter what goes around comes around. Today was payback day for those matches that we didn't win after completely dominating the game, Cardiff springs to mind. I enjoyed my day in Geordieland today.

Must be an excellent performance to win away to a side who’d won five on the bounce at home in the league including against City.

This thread is a great read this evening.

we got lucky today on other days during
this season we haven't had the luck .Roy's role was to keep us up with the limitations we have.
what more could he have done.

Football is all about luck, Newcastle at our ground were extremely lucky no law against it.

Indeed. Very mixed feelings. On the one hand it’s great that we have survived another year in the PL but it’s horrible to think we are going to keep on playing like this year after year. We need to go up a gear in playing style. Meyer doesn’t seem like the answer and we can’t depend on Zaha year after year. Sooner or later he will move on and then what?

One day the Roy Out brigade will appreciate the job he is doing. 12th in the table sitting above a lot of he managers you lot would want to manage us.
We have had a lot of the season without a striker and remember back to when we could only call on Soerloth for a substitution.
We are a few players short of a very good side but are certainly not there yet. Stop getting carried away with yourselves and thinking we are better than what we are.

We are now ahead of Howe, Dyche and Benitez in the table yet some of you would prefer them as our manager. Why??

..because they are very silly supporters.

I'm not denying this but today was about how bad we were, not how lucky we were.
I'd love to see us play like Newcastle did today at home. I was more than impressed by the way they constantly attacked us. Not bad for a defensive team!
We don't do this and it's a real problem.

Its results that win points, not necessarily performances.
I am sure Toon supporters would prefer to play as we did, if they had won. How many times have we battered teams at home and lost or drawn.

Managers control performances, not results.

Trump lost. Badly. Hahahahahahaha.

On a roll and full of confidence at home, if we had just managed to put away a few of our great opportunities we've had at home I'm pretty sure we would be playing with more authority ..Sakho missed the easiest header at home against Newcastle didn't he, it plays on their minds ..I bet we play better at home now we are well and truly safe.

We were as lucky today as Newcastle were at Selhurst - they should have won today we should have won at home - that's football it's called taking your chances.
