I won't say much because I don't want to sidetrack the thread away from its focus so I'll just reply with the following.

In my view you formulate language here that defends the irrational under the guise of authority and its establishment systems. My comment was simply an observation of actual real civilisational threat, actual real wipeout and the state's attitude and response in relation to it compared to far lesser ones.

As for commentary on authoritarianism.....Well considering your ideas on compulsion, coercion, censorship, ostracization and the punishing of those who disagree with you let's just say that I can't take your views seriously.

I note that it's often those most frightened of physical force themselves who are the most willing to see others inflict force onto their ideological opposition.

Then why mention the Covid response here in the first place? Making snarky remarks at this time is really inappropriate. Just as is the further diversion onto my own approach on totally unrelated subjects.

It wasn't myself who diverted the thread with attempts at cheap shots.

For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally.

No, and I didn't say that. Everyone who lives in the United Kingdom is British. Just stating a fact.

Think you need to get your FACTS correct before you spout your usual BS

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.

Here's a rather brave mixed race Brit proud of his country and also choosing to head to Ukraine to fight for others freedom: [Link]

It's almost as if life is a bit more complicated and nuanced than a racial identity wishlist. One or two here genuinely think this mans home should be Africa and that he might want to consider 'going back' (to someone he's never been). Should we let the bloke back in? Decisions, decisions.

But in any case, this sudden 'I have a badge saying I'm English and you're not' stuff would be better suited to being plastered on a lamppost in the dead of night, not a Ukraine thread, so my out there idea is that we get back to talking about Ukraine.

"Belarus joined the Russian invasion of Ukraine on Tuesday, with the country’s troops entering the Chernihiv region in northern Ukraine, Ukrainian authorities confirmed.

In a tweet posted on Tuesday morning, the Ukrainian parliament, the Verkhovna Rada, confirmed earlier reports that Belarusian troops were on Ukrainian soil." - [Link]

Lukashenko only yesterday said he wouldn't do this. Though it was to be expected.

What is the point of this ridiculous argument you lot are having?

Meantime innocent people are being killed and the situation in Ukraine becomes increasingly dangerous. Not just for those folk living there, but for all of us too IMO.

An ongoing argument between those with 56 gender identities (all of which we simply MUST learn) and those crying into their pot noodles over the profound importance of their 23andme results (that they have zero control over and tells you nothing about their character or values) will keep them firmly pre-ocupied as a Russian nuke lands in their backyard.

Back on topic then ..

Russia originally shut down markets for 1 day, then 2, now how many(?), as Putin explained the invasion in his weird press conference to the assembled oligarchs. His original push to capture Kyiv “By Monday” was when the markets should have opened. Now he sends all the remaining forces in a convoy to finish this off.

Any mob boss equivalent soon feels the heat when the money stops flowing and Putin isn't all powerful, he is still ultimately beholden to the interests of the mega rich. I'm not sure that their patience for waiting for Putin to secure his legacy will outlast the anger of their wealth evaporating. The desperation to get this done, could result in hellish days ahead, but if he doesn't score what can be perceived as a victory before long, I see him being the one paying the price.

Russia are now killing Ukrainian civilians at will.
This is the way that Putin will take control of the Capital city - just exterminate everyone in their way.
He cannot countenance defeat or a climbdown and is getting more dangerous by the day.
It appears on the face of it that the Russian military were not expecting anyone to fight them - they were just moving in to take over the cities peacefully, such is the State brainwashing in Russia.
How will Putin get out of this without losing face? There is no way that I can see or that I have heard.
As the sanctions bite and the Western World stands up to Russia I think that only someone in his inner circle can stop him and that means someone having the courage to literally blow the mans brains out and stop the fighting.
That man or woman would be a hero to the world but will it happen - unlikely - scarily unlikely.
