Who should be the assister? Townsend. We didn't buy the guy to assist we bought him to score goals. Huge lack of determination highlighted by sørloth chasing balls down.

Did anyone watch benteke having the warm up shooting practice, he can't even hit the target then!!

I've been his biggest critic this season but yesterday he was quality and his workrate was much better. We need him to perform like that every game from now on, I missed the incident at the end of the game, as soon as Sorloth passed it I thought it was a s*** ball and punched the air in anger, if Benteke gave up on it then its pretty disappointing however he worked much harder yesterday than any other game.

I was not defending him - like others on here I am not happy with his lack of goals.
All I said was that last night he was better than in previous games but he is nowhere near what we need from him yet.
If he could just score a great goal he might help us through the rest of the season.

Forced de Gea to make a world class save, bossed Smalling all night winning all the headers, a number of defensive clearing headers and cleared a certain goal off the line.
But all people remember is him failing to keep a ball from going into touch in the opponents half, somehow they can link that to conceding the winning goal despite the fact it happened 90 secs before the goal and out whole defensive unit was between Matic and the goal.
People are calling for him to be dropped for Sørloth, who reminds me of Wilbraham, all effort, no end product.

Played well yesterday. People who criticize him have an agenda. So no matter he does those critics will have at him.

Did he score? Or are we just accepting that this is not expected any longer?

You could argue that the ultra supportive brigade who continually remain upbeat about Benteke while conveniently ignoring his horrific lack of goals have the agenda.

For the record yes he did ok yesterday imo

At the end of the day we bought him to score goals.
If he was playing for another team what would your reaction be if it was sugested we bought him in the summer for 28m? ....Yes please, he wins a lot of headers, assists a bit and defends corners well ......or, you must be joking 2 goals all season...

We all know the injuries have crippled us but if Christian had stepped up and been the player he was last season, which is why we paid all that money for him and not gone missing like he has, who knows where we would be.

I do think he will start scoring now.

Sorry mate but he can be blamed in part for us conceding. When you’re desperately trying to hold on for a precious point against Man United you can’t give up possession cheaply like that. He should have sprinted to get that and taken it to the corner. It’s classic defending from the front and had he done that we may have held in for that point.

I still fail to see, how the blame for the winning goal is put down to Benteke. You could argue if the pass to him wasn't way over his head, he would have to sprint to try and get it, whilst knackered, nobody remembers to just booted it in his general direction.
I get people don't like him, mainly down to his transfer fee and expectations that come with that.
I seem to remember M.Bright went 21 games without scoring, lucky for him, there wasn't social media then!
