Or is it systemic racism?

I think the legal system is systematic and the police force are an institution but I could be entirely wrong. It'll all just be made up anyway - like most things these days.

No, the probably indicated it might not have happened now not that it wasn't inevitable.

So you know my mind better than me?

You asked how I knew. My reply was directed to the subject of the thread, and why it happened now. Inevitability wasn’t involved.

It appears so. Maybe parsing isn't your strength.

Not that structural racism meant different standards of policing then.

No, because the police don’t consider such things when making their judgements.

That some perceive it that way doesn’t mean it exists.

Perceptions are often wrong.

We think footballers are lazy, when the truth might be they are carrying an injury or have been told to conserve energy.

No, because they were all born before 1947 when everyone born there was British. If they were born a few years later they would have been but then it changed again, to only include those whose parents are Indian.

What the laws are in India have no impact on what they are here. Nor does what you, or anyone else, think the laws ought to be.

Someone born in the UK is British. Not an immigrant. Fact!

If both parents are foreign nationals, this is not the case unless they have indefinite leave to remain. In the US irrespective of your parents nationality you are automatically given American citizenship .
Having said that, Citizenship is a minefield and seems to be a fluid situation

Being pedantic is obviously yours.

This will be welcome news to many who have felt victimised in the past.

I thought the current requirement in India was that one parent needed to be. It has changed over the years and the original question was about 3 people born before 1950. It was asked to try to counter the fact that the accused is actually British by birth, and not an immigrant.

The US wasn’t mentioned but as you have it means if this had happened there he would also not be an immigrant. Something I suspect would be more readily accepted in the US than here.

Completely untrue. I am frequently wrong. As my wife repeatedly tells me and I acknowledge. I like a quiet life.

Wrong again. It's far more than frequently.
