I must say I do find this rather amusing...

Back in january going into The (1st) ManU game, Many people were pointing out that very few points would be coming our way this side of April, and by the time 1st April rocked up we would be in the bottom 3.

Now, I know our form hasn't been Great, but the first 6 of those games, we've picked up 5 unlikely points. No one predicted any return from the last 6 games. so we've done alright.

Still 4 tough fixtures to go til april, Villa at the weekend looks the most likely place to get some points, but If we continue to be hard to beat for this period, and nick a point here and there we can then really try to kick on and finish the season well. No excuses for the last 10 games.

That quite literally sums up the narrative around the initial, progression and current state of my thinking.

So we are performing better than expected and people are still not happy....

Enjoying getting up later and not having someone who knows better than me (apart from the missus of course).

We would all like to see the team move up a gear for the remainder of this season, but even if they stay in the kind of form they've been in recently, it should be more than enough.

38 points is the magical target to stay up, though in fact it has required far less than that in recent years. We have 27 points from 24 games, and so if we maintain our average, or even dip a bit below it, we should be absolutely fine. Not exciting, but fine. If we continue to play for (and often get) a low scoring draw most weeks, we'll be home and dry by April.

The more I watch a Zaha-less Palace, the more I wonder how the hell we ever win games without him. It's not just his absence (though that is critical), but the dearth of alternative forward options. You can justify a hardworking but limited striker if he is a foil for Zaha to score, but when Wilf isn't there that same striker is suddenly required to open defences and score goals. That is when the utter lack of quality shines through.

If I were Vieria I'd be playing the exact same cagey football he is playing, and all the while getting on at Dougie to find a decent forward or two for next season. Otherwise, it'll be a whole season of the same next time around.

Ha, yeah. We're about where we usually are league position wise. I think some fans expected too much after the decent footie of last season and are impatient for more of the same. But this is Palace they need to remind themselves. Also I think Roy has somehow managed to imprint Royball into the player's dna, it comes natural to them.

Exactly

And going into this period, we could have predicted the backlash against all things in the team, handily disregarding their stance at the beginning of it.

It makes me smile that most of us get panicky about the threat of relegation, me included but nobody from any other club sees us going down. It’s purely our own paranoia and past bad experiences. The life of being a Palace fan.
