So Lampard is apparently in talks with WBA?? As long as he stays away from Selhurst Park, he can talk with any other club for me.

Townsend has apparently just been on the radio saying the players were told before the end of the season that an appointment would be made in the next two weeks.

According to Andros Townsend, speaking to TalkSport, the players were told that our new manager is couple of weeks away. He'll be deciding who stays and goes, and who we look to buy. I don't know when the players were told that, however, so take your guess. [Tweet Link]

I wonder if Christophe Galtier leaving Lille will set off a change reaction.

Whilst everyone pretends we need someone in the door by the end of the week, I suspect the board are aiming to have it sorted by the opening of the transfer window. We may well have appointed someone prior to then, but if we're being honest, anytime between now and the end of June will suffice.

Find it funny 3 days since the season has ended and supporters are already crying we dont have a manager in place, We need the right fit and we will get it right, apart from FDB all the others done what we needed (Holloway took us up). Dont worry we will be ok

Na I disagree - if they're not going to do contracts before the appointment, then we'll only have about 13 people show up for the first day of training and have to compete with offers from every other club for Benteke etc. If a manager isn't appointed until the end of June, we're stuffed.

We're a London Premier League club with a full summer, two transfer windows and money in the bank freed up by losing overpaid, non-contributing players. It's a tough job, but it's so rare that a Premier League job, that isn't a huge club, comes up without them halfway through a season staring down the barrel of relegation. There's going to be a queue around the block for this. Surely the far more logical reason is we're considering managers who already have a job? But yet the Lampard story (if true???) suggests at least one favourite was put off by the challenge. Actually, I don't think it is true. The Baggies are ready made but, more importantly, his longer term interests, in a market where job security is not a feature, are probably best served by creating a saviour reputation for getting them up and keeping them there for at least one season. Perhaps the Palace job requires someone more of the Southgate "root and branch" mould (but not him) who is happy to take on a major transformation job, one who thrives in a building site. Alternatively, another experienced holding manager while we cling on and continue to build slowly on our relative meagre resources. That is, Dyche.

Between now and the end of June, which gives us another month. The last day of June won't ideal but I suspect anything that gives the new manager at least a week prior will be fine. Point being, many are suggesting the new guy needs to be appointed imminently.
