Do you remember when the away fans sat up the other end of the AW? that was why the HFcongregated up that side of the Homesdale originally. Then the club decided to move the away fans up the other end of the AW that must have proved disruptive for some fans. So it’s been done before. I’m afraid I can’t remember the detail. Can anyone?

That is a very good point and first time I have seen it mentioned in the whole debate.

Unfortunately it meant the Family Stand corner where there is a higher proportion of families and kids gets appalling abuse from some of the visiting away fans

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

This is true but with regards moving people, it probably had to move 9 people out of those Arfur seats, and 3 of them got in free in the 2nd half.

It has been mentioned before. That move was made to separate away fans from the most vocal home fans, and reduce the possibility of it all kicking off between the two sets ( rare, but not entirely unknown). This then meant that the internal security could be undertaken by club stewards, rather than having to pay the massive costs for policing inside the ground as well as outside.

You know full well that the point, from the pro singing section, is the atmosphere they help create. To many, perhaps not you, a good stadium atmosphere makes it more enjoyable.

You may not agree, that’s your choice and that’s fine. But maybe you should acknowledge others opinions and then you might be able to understand a different viewpoint from yours and then be able engage in the conversation/debate.

For the record, I, and I’m sure most, don’t feel that it’s necessarily right to move long term supporters from their seats, however it’s clear the atmosphere has suffered since HF have stopped attending as a group. SP agrees, hence why he’s now accommodating them. There has to be a halfway solution to satisfy all parties.

The original HF idea of resetting the whole lower tier was a fair one as the people who had been there longest would have got first choice of seats and remained in the Holmesdale. The box office obviously didn’t fancy the admin to do that.

Alternatively, if a suitable ‘compensation’ or good will gesture could be put together for those effected, perhaps that would be enough to keep both side happy? The reported 50% off next season plus 10% club shop voucher is an insult. If they were offered a free season ticket for next year, £100 club shop voucher and guaranteed first choice seats in the new stand, at the same price as the lower Holmesdale, I think there would less fuss over this. Ticket sales only represent a fraction of the clubs revenue, so this would be a drop in the ocean as far as Palaces finances go.

I don’t think they HF have covered themselves in glory in the way they have handled this, but if SP has made a promise to them which he hasn’t kept, this is probably the only way for the HF to make a stand and force his hand. The reality is that as a group they are very effective and do far more then any other fan group or individuals. For that reason I believe they have earned the special treatment they are receiving.

Apart from it being unfair and that you don’t like it, what do you think is the best solution to keep all sides happy?

They should have encouraged natural growth of the "singing section" from where they currently were. Eventually, if it caught on, it would migrate towards the middle as it expanded in any case.

Because the HF stand all match there will always be a problem if people around them are sitting. So just moving them lock stock and barrel into the middle is going to create problems. If just one person writes to the league and suggests CPFC are advocating standing within an all seater stadium then CPFC could well be on very thin ice.

The ultimate answer to this is to put forward a plan for safe standing for the whole of the LH and many of the problems disappear as the singers can gravitate to whatever part of the LH they like then. The capacity would increase for the ground and those displaced from seats who want to sit could be moved into the increased capacity of the new stand.

Obviously this all takes time to implement, so they should be encouraged for now to go back to where they were and to expand gradually whilst other plans are put in place. This is the only way everyone can be kept happy in the short term.

What are we waiting for with this? Surely it's for the club to explain how people can apply?

I personally hope it's inclusive and we can start talking about this with the positivity the idea deserves! (this also frees up more seats for those moving out of block e right?)

A proper vocal section in the middle of the Holmesdale is going to be a gamechanger
