Terrible shame. A great Prime Minister, and her death has certainly shown the true colours of a number of people on here. Celebrating the death of a very unwell old lady - unbelievable.
I haven't always agreed with this gentleman but he has it summed up perfectly. New lows of barbaric nastiness from the Thatcher ghouls.

Hmm, well I know Cornish and Devon police who were shipped up in Yorkshire at the time who said everything was peaceful up there and the copppers were just talking to the police...then the Met Police aka Thatcher's personal guard, arrived and suddenly all hell broke loose. The cornish police put in a complaint about the Met Police's behaviour for it.

susmik at 11 Apr 2013 12.49pm At the time of the strikes coal was going out of fashion anyway due to health worries. in fact the "Green movement" started at that time and was the start of all the "Save the Planet brigade". That's the part of Anti-Thatcherism I don't get. Are we really all supposed to be working down the pit in the 21st century? An incredibly hazardous job. I would say people were struggling to shake off traditional attitudes to class and the familiar foe of the toff, but they had no trouble adopting a new opponent. Someone from the slums of the East End making millions on the markets is equally loathed and has been since the eighties. The connection to the current ecomomic situation is debatable but all too convenient. Sadly 3 decades will blur in to one for the children of the current left-wing.

I have to agree.....there are some people on here that talk out their backsides and do NOT really know how much maggie did for this country and how she pulled us back from the brink when we were going down the pan due to strikes and nationalised companies that were dragging us down. Many on here that are old enough to have lived through the period she was Prime Minister will know that the unions had virtually taken over the mad house But she took them to task and beat them. Arthur Scargill was on the picket lines with the miners making them attack police and everyone that was not on their side...I know because I was backing the police with fellow marines on the picket lines. The miners got sucked into a situation that they did not really understand but followed that idiot Scargill who incidently got shunned by the unions some years ago due to lining his pockets and bumming accomodation costs through his union funds. He was a total waste of space and did more harm than good. At the time of the strikes coal was going out of fashion anyway due to health worries. in fact the "Green movement" started at that time and was the start of all the "Save the Planet brigade". I wholly endorse these sentiments. Willo

I can only go off the words of the guy that was actually there Stirling. Sure you can.....Looks like we better believe all the witness statements that get made, because they were there and we weren't. No one has an agenda do they.

That's the part of Anti-Thatcherism I don't get. Are we really all supposed to be working down the pit in the 21st century? An incredibly hazardous job. Indeed ! Do Mrs Thatcher's critics really believe that thousands of men should still be toiling in desperately dark and dangerous conditions so that our skies can once again be filled with thick black smoke from coal fires ?

But that's not why she did it is it? She didn't close the pits to save the environment! It is a myth that Mrs Thatcher destroyed the coal industry.Even before she came to power it was a shadow of it's former self.
