A fair point (and to be honest, knowing very little about Angie Stone, and absolutely nothing about the commedienne, I couldn't confirm or deny the hairstyles of either), but we, as a society, do tend to judge these things differently depending on which foot the boot is on, so to speak. If it were a white fella being interviewed, and it could be construed in a dodgy way, they'd be a lot more careful, I'm sure you'll agree. Just a point - not judging, just asking the question.

Talking of newspapers, what about The Voice which calls itself 'Britain's Black Newspaper'. Try launching a paper and calling it 'white'. Like everything else now, double standards......

Daily Mail's already cornered that particular market hasn't it? It doesn't call itself a 'white' newspaper on its masthead. The Voice is a self proclaimed 'black' newspaper and is therefore inherently racist, using the criteria that many here are so keen to apply.

If a newspaper whose sales are aimed at the black community wants to describe itself as a "black" paper, what does it matter? Why feel so threatened and defensive? Why not be secure in your own identity without having to feel antagonistic to others? Why feel the need to aim animosity at those who don't fit your view of who belongs in this country and who doesn't? We are all decendents of immigrants after all.

I thought the idea was that we all say we're the same and if thats so, which is pretty bloody obvious, and thats what we're working towards in our modern society, to eradicate racism, sexism, homophobia etc by educating and learning off each other etc. doesnt this mean that having a 'black' paper mean a backwards step?? its not a racist issue, no, but its a step in the wrong direction of what i feel modern society is trying to acheive. the question you gotta answer too is if a paper would to blatantly sell itself as a white persons paper and advertise the fact, wouldnt be deemed as wrong and unnecessary? nevermind the racism issue.

If a newspaper styled itself as aimed towards white people, and openly proclaimed it to be so, would it be allowed to do that? You know what the answer to that is. And please don't misinterpret my comments as being defensive - read what I've said very carefully before making ridiculous comments.

Whether I misinterpreted your remarks or not, I percieve many of them as defensive and coming from a position of feeling threatened by some imagined "takeover" of our country by Muslims, which I just do not see in my everyday life. I live in an area with a large Muslim community and don't feel in any way threatened by their "encroachment". 99.9% of Muslims are honest, hard-working, family-oriented people. Describing my comments as "ridiculous" is pointless - it's a subjective term. I might think many of your remarks are ridiculous, but saying so would serve no purpose other than to lower the standard of debate to one of an exchange of insults. And if I wanted one of those, I'd move to the Come & Have a Go forum!
