No - that would be the end to a private thread of your own, entitled 'The Greatest Rock N Roll Band Of All Time'. Not this thread which has the slightly different title of 'Greatest Band Ever' implying that advocated of all genres of music can express their views, hence me mentioning Prince & The Revolution, as well as James Brown's band, 'The JB's'.

They certainly brought the funk.

Mmmm. Having re-read my previous contribution it does maybe seem a little narrow-minded. I'll elucidate. I'm happy to confess that: Bob Marley and the Wailers Ian Dury & The Blockheads Joy Division The Specials (esp when featuring Rico Rodriguez) The Beat The Ruts The Pogues The Upsetters The Prodigy Carter USM Asian Dub Foundation Underworld Stiff Little Fingers The Mescalaroes The Redskins The Blaggers and in a nod to modernity) The Libertines all came flitting across my mind as possible candidates. I smiled at the thoughts of The Smiths, Radiohead, The Cure and, I admit, Prince & The Revolution. But nah..... not even one of these great bands can elbow their way to the podium labelled "Greatest Band Ever (Rock N Roll or Otherwise)" astride which stand the mighty Mick, Topper, Paul and Joe. It's still The CLASH. START WEARING PURPLE!
