After much soul searching, I now know the greatest album made by anyone, ever, is 'Achtung, Baby!' by U2.

Whether you like them or not, this is the album to atleast give a try. Less high and mighty, more dark and cynical.

Having a Party with Jonathan Richman
Flaming Lips - Soft Bulletin
Radiohead - OK Computer
Smiths - Strageways here we come

Misty in Roots - Live at the Countereurovision 1979

It would be stupid to class it as a contender for best album ever, but "Hopes and Fears" by Keane is one of the best debut albums I have had the pleasure of owning.

I can see it becoming a bit of a classic.

My favourite ever album is most probably

Biffy Clyro - The Vertigo of Bliss

I encourage everyone to listen to a bit of these guys. Amazing

Oasis - Definitely Maybe

Closely followed by Oasis - What's the Story Morning Glory

Noel Gallagher is a genius.

(Whats the story) Morning Glory is the best ever without a doubt, full of anthems, though Some Might Say is my personal favourite.

Great album (I would probably say Definitely Maybe was better), I reckon the best song is Wonderwall. It's the best song ever in my opinion, though Cast No Shadow is a fantastic piece of song-writing too.

Noel Gallagher is a genius.

The word genius is banded around far too much in today's music world.

It has been again here in my opinion.

I'm not disputing Gallagher's credentials, nor his ability to write some decent stuff, he's a very good singer/songwriter, but a genius is going a bit overboard.

Oasis' earlier stuff was undoubtedly better, all the songs you've listed on this thread are songs that will be immediately linked with the Brit-Pop era in the mid 1990's.

Very good singer songwriter, not a genius. There's a fine line.

Controversial? Well it gives us something to discuss on the way to the Everton game

In my opinion he is a genius. The songs that he has written are incredible, some of the best lyrics and best songs I have ever listened to. For someone to write as many exceptional songs as him you must be a genius.

To produce 1 great album of songs is very good, 2 is fantastic but 6 or 7 is just unbelievable. He is a genius.
