Ridiculous !
That’s why there are elections man. So it’s not only your singular view that carries the day

Thereby hangs the problem. My view, which is far from singular but very widely held, has no effect at all.

The US President potentially has more impact on our lives than anyone we can vote for but all we can do is observe the mess the US system has got itself into.

It’s the double standards (primarily media distortion supported by left money) that is hard to stomach. They portray Joe as the democracy saving white knight, who never tells lies, practices MMA every morning and the smartest man in the room. It’s so completely false but people believe it!!

Trump uses “bloody” and “massacre” in the same speech and all you hear about is “our democracy is under threat with this man”.

In Michigan last week (after Joes debate debacle and some mega donner concern) he delivered his most personal TDS speech I have ever witnessed!

It is this rhetoric that drives hate into this country, and not Trumps continued references to “crooked Joe” or worst president in US history.

I have lost friends over politics and it’s sad! Both sides are no where near as bad as the media makes out, but there is no room normal thinking, law abiding people in US politics!

It's sad because the hate is all coming from one way. The likes of me and most likely you tolerate, welcome, debate and accept etc...other people's views without the need to stop being friends with them. And then the other side is like "my way of thinking or the highway" if you don't conform to those lefties brainwashed views you are cut off. My eyes were open wide during covid.

An event like this certainly sorts out the reasonable from the loons.
Not that we really needed a clue.

You’ve pretty much nailed it with those comments!

Then why spend so much time denigrating someone you can't vote for to others who can't vote for him either?
The posters here who live in America aren't as vehemently against Trump and they know more about life under his presidency than anyone living in Britain.

Interesting. The whole point of the American way is that anybody can run for President; the public then decide who is worthy of holding the position. So are the American public wrong to want him as President?

They are entitled to want him to be President. That's never been in question, but the mess that US politics is in and its structural inability to heal itself means that they can end up with someone like Trump.

You are entitled to want all kinds of things, but that doesn't mean they are sensible. You are entitled to be stupid, but it's not wise to be.

When people see that image of Trump fresh from the attempt on his life, blood on his face, fist in the air with the US flag behind him don't forget the kind of people who called him a coward.

Those are the cowards and while I have issues with Trump and his lies, they aren't worth the crap on his shoe in comparison.

Because the US President impacts us too, yet we have no direct route to influence who they are. Showing our resolve and making sure our distaste is understood is all we can do, alongside trying to understand what the consequences of such a choice might be and to prepare for them.

I don't limit my conversations about Trump to here. I use other, US-based forums, some sympathetic to him and others opposed. Understanding how people think is valuable. To me anyway.

Yep, they lie and lie because that's what they are paid to do.

One particularly annoying example was when Trump was talking about the car industry and how China can affect it and he said that without tariffs the industry would suffer an economic 'bloodbath'.

When the usual suspects in the Democratic media came to report it they completely missed out the context of the US car industry that he was talking about and portrayed it as him threatening a bloodbath.

These people are lying scum and they know they are.

The idea that anybody could access, let alone set themselves up for a shot, on that roof, in direct line of fire and at a range less than 200 yards simply beggers belief.

The only people up on that roof should have been the security detailed to be up there....oh.....mhm.

If this is just a cock-up then heads need to roll within 48 hours.
If this is more than that then the US might be looking for an entirely new establishment.

This stinks now. To high-heaven.
