Well we can’t, that’s my point.

You mean that you can’t be bothered to try a peaceful means to engage with a politician and therefore violence is an acceptable form of engagement for those at the lower end of the IQ spectrum.

hats off to palace, they were always gonna be louder, and hate to say it but they were impressive ALL bouncing and singing.

Nope, I mean that ordinary people don’t at all have a means to ‘rebut a politician’.

If you go back to my first post, you’ll note I’ve already said it’s not an acceptable form of engagement, but you’re pretending he could just debate Farage as an alternative, which, never mind acceptable, is a completely made-up form of engagement.

Rather than tell me what I mean, you could just read my posts.

Well, personally I’d try social media or write to the politicians campaign address, investigate whether the politician was doing a radio phone in or an audience debating session. But I expect that the abuser doesn’t have a view on any policy; he just hates Farage, or democracy.

Why don’t you give that a go with a mainstream politician of your choosing and let us know how you get on.

I have no need to as I have researched the various party’s views and will consider the individual candidates merits, so I have a good idea about what would be best. If you have a busy life you may not be able to but I don’t get the impression that you are the sort of person who would assault somebody for their political views.

As long as you're fine with escalation when it hits people you support.

Yes you can, it's called voting.

Violence is fine in my book but only as long as those throwing stuff don't cry when it's thrown back.

This is getting far to one sided.

The point is not he was hit with a milkshake it’s the fact it could have been acid or broken glass etc. If these people aren’t jailed then eventually it will be more sinister.

Why does it need escalation? Politicians on both sides have been getting hit with eggs and milkshakes for decades.

We don’t need to pretend someone willing to throw a milkshake is now prone to engaging in serious violence.

We don’t need to invent hypotheticals about what it could have been - it was a milkshake.

Have any of the previous milkshake throwers gone onto more sinister things?

Virtually every debate on HOL is hypothetical and all of a sudden we shouldn’t discuss with hypotheticals. Let’s see your response when another Jo cox happens as hypothetically a politician was never going to die for their party beliefs.
Alongside an MP wasn’t hypothetically stabbed to death in his surgery was he.?

I don’t think that is the exact point. Rather like the first person who puts graffiti on a blank wall what follows by other people can often be more elaborate. Consequently the attacks on Farage could escalate; not from the current perpetrators but by those who are more unbalanced.
