I read somewhere that there were concerns expressed within the squad about the focus on practice games in training at the expense of basic fitness work. If true it’s disappointing that professional players didn’t put in extra shifts to work on their personal fitness but OG has brought in his own coaches and likes to press so I’m expecting a fitter team that can play 100 minutes.

I think we can all agree that the combination of a manager like Glasner and the significant interest in our star players means that change is coming to Palace....good or bad things will probably look very different come the start of next season. I have some frustration that as supporters/fans we were denied the chance to see what our team could achieve with our star players fully fit and able to play together for most of a season: it's a cruel joke. Still onwards and hopefully upwards. Edited by Stirlingsays (22 Feb 2024 7.05am)

In his interview today Glasner says talks with the club started in the autumn and the move had happened a bit earlier than planned. This would indicate a least some foresight and planning on the part of the club and it sounds as if Glasner has already being doing some homework on the players and the team. Hopefully he will have been checking these forums to see what he should do.

That's how I saw it as well. Reassuring to discover that there was always a plan in place, they've just brought it forwards through absolute necessity.

Bodes well IMHO as I was concerned he may have been offered and taken the job on somewhat of a panicked whim. Good stuff!
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

If it’s schoolboy stuff, why do clubs spend millions on managers and coaches, when they could have just go down to the local school to recruit. There is a little bit more to being a manager, than you think. I don't doubt but the throw ins? Explain that?
I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything. |

Edited by Willo (22 Feb 2024 10.07am) The assertions from some, that the club is run on a wing and a prayer, have never convinced me. Parish is quite an astute businessman and obviously has a plan moving forward and a contingency plan as back up. I doubt Cooper and Potter were ever on the radar, but only in the media’s view, as both unemployed. Edited by Painter (22 Feb 2024 11.00am)

We could be one of the top teams outside the big teams…….but not if we sell 3 stars in the summer as some seem to be advocating. We’re not Brighton who manage to sell their players at way over the odds and then allow themselves a small smile as they fail to deliver for their new clubs not schooled in the Brighton system of play. I was told Glasner has been told by both Parish and Freedman that he will have a budget to spend in the summer which he is happy with. It is not conditional on sales. Glasner has it written into his contract that he has a say on who comes and who leaves.
