If Roy wasn't a gentleman he'd have said "Feck the lot of you" (possible Irish ancestry?) and walked away. He doesn't need all this pressure and $hite. I hope when he does step down it is on a high.

Best away result and enjoyable evening match in recent times was the 4 - 1 win over Watford in February 2022.

Watford manager at the time? Roy Hodgson. Watford were dreadful that evening. Just go a goal up against a Hodgson team, and 99 times out of a 100, the game is yours.

Roy's problems are he won't play our younger players and the football is boring.

Just watching a programme on TNT ‘Laura (woods) meets Roy.

Blimey forgot how much experience Roy has and some of the players he has managed. Actually makes me understand a bit as to why he won’t play the kids. When you’ve worked with who he has, I guess it’s hard to look at the untested and less talented when he can see the established players in front of you.

I’m not saying he is right and I still can’t wait until we have (hopefully) or more forward thinking manager. But it does make you think.

I agree with Oddball. Roy is doing the best job with what was given him by the owners. Did you know that Josh Harris an owner in Palace recently purchased the Washington Commander American Football Team for upwards of 3 billion USD. Hard to believe. Why not hit him up for some scratch to purchase better players.

When it comes to matters on the pitch and training the buck stops with Roy. One of the reasons Parish is not spending huge amounts of money on players for him is his frequent refusals to play them complaining that they are not what he wanted. He took this attitude with Eze dropping him to the bench saying that “he has to learn how to defend”! It’s all very well trying to blame Parish, Freedman, Harris, Blitzer and Texter but if the manager is not up to scratch then all the money in the world is not going to improve the team. Roy was in charge of Liverpool and the England Football Team and failed miserably. We are now playing at the level of a relegation team (9 points out of 45) and unless he improves his performance he won’t last till the end of the season.

Failure to beat the Blades and he goes. They've just been mauled by Brighton, so anything other than a win is unacceptable.

The players have been rested*, no excuses.

* In recent times this seems to make us worse!

I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything.

I caught this today - was on TNT sports after the India vs England test cricket - so happened upon it by chance..!!

[Link]

So it goes through Hodgson’s career - quite interesting nearest he’s got to winning anything of note is runner up in the UEFA Cup twice - Inter and Fulham..!!

Other than that pretty average - despite this aura that seems to be about him as some sort of Managerial great..!!

What really struck me most was that he admits to being blinkered and somewhat stubborn..!!

But the most interesting thing for me is that he says if players who he used to train looked at his sessions now - they will see similarities as in not a lot has changed..!!

Tells you all you need to know - from the man himself..!!

COYP
