This post has been merged from a topic called 'Board discontent ' by becky This banner is relevant though, must say. That is where the discontent stems from. Fans didn't turn up the first few PL seasons, booing and moaning because we were battling relegation. We all knew where we were and what the challenge was but we backed our famous red and blue to the hills. I mentioned previously but it is very hard to drum yourself up for each game when you don't feel any real vision or plan is in place. Parish's talks of a top ten finish and bigger stadium are even more insulting now and just about every other club buys players and gets new managers in frequently these days, we do neither. It's a sorry state of affairs. 1 win in 11, 0 goals scored over two cup legs leading to an early exit, a weak squad, no signings to boost the first team and Hodgson still at the helm serving up utter dross which is designed to do nothing more than try to keep us out of a relegation battle. I don't blame nor have any ire against Roy though, he's just doing the job he's been asked to do and I am still very grateful for what he has done here. I do not wish to see us return to the C'ship or be in a relegation battle, I wouldn't actively yearn for that, but I've never seen such discontent and general malaise in enthusiasm from our fans. That was set to last only a short period though, as sincere rumblings were due to happen sooner than later. You can easily see this gathering momentum and becoming a very vocal movement. If Parish is waiting to the end of the season to install a new manager and buy some players, he may well have to communicate this to fans. If he is not, or does not, I wouldn't be surprised to see discontent and grumblings soon turn to very real anger and the antics to demonstrate this toward Parish et al.

You think people are despondent now? just wait until we unveil Gareth Southgate as the new boss.. The footballing equivalent of a place where horses go to die.

If we had been able to field our best 11 for more than just 30 minutes I personally don't think we would be in the position we are. Quite. We should be somewhere between 8th and 12th with a target of 10th or better and 50 plus points by May had we not had this run of poor luck, especially the loss of Doucoure. People go on about Wilf, Olise and Eze but I really don't think folk truly realised how important this bloke was to the team. The football would be more or less the same, especially against the big chaps, but we would also have had really good days under Roy. Remember Leeds away?

Not a chance. He is an eloquent figurehead for a very large organisation where the real work is undertaken by largely autonomous teams. With us he would actually have to do some coaching and has limited form for that. Also, his price will be too high. I see him more likely off to Saudi or the US. Carrick is a better fit for us. Or that bloke at Coventry who Willo apparently likes..?

The statement was made early this season and was repeated in his on pitch interview prior to the Bournemouth game. At that point we had suffered the injuries to Doucoure and Eze and were still nursing Olise back to full fitness. But I don't think there were many, if any, pundits or fans that looked at the strength of the squad at the start of the season and thought it capable of a Top Ten finish. A few injuries and we would struggle as has been the case. I'm not a ' Parish Basher '. But this particular issue really annoyed me - still does !

I don't know ST, the hubris from all parties involved will see this happen, every ounce in my body feels like Southgate being Palace boss is written in the stars at this point.

Banners, boos and protests would only have a negative impact on the team. I am a Palace fan and I want us to win and if I could help us achieve that I would. Personally I think Roy is doing a good job and look back at the end of last season and the attractive football we were playing then. I hope we can get back to that starting, probably not against Arsenal but, against Sheffield United next week. Our reputation was tarnished by the chants at Everton. I for one am proud of our reputation as fans that will support the team even when times are tough. Most of us have seen far worse than our play this season. I am bitterly disappointed that we haven't made more improvement during our time in the Prem. The board have a lot to answer for but maybe match day is not the right time to make our feelings known.

Well done to Parish for giving back the first half of his performance bonus. Could he kindly explain which objectives he achieved in order to retain the second half. I am not sure his objectives are all that challenging to be fair.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |
