We face the ignominy of being beaten 3 times by one mediocre team in one season. However... ...the last time I recall this happened, it was Watford. I also seem to recall they went down that season and we did not. Screw the Cup. This season is all about safe mid table till we get someone more exiting to manage.

5 man defence plus 2 defensive midfield players set out Roys usual intent. But despite that we still should have comfortably won. Their keeper made great saves and we missed several. Guehi was great going forward in the end. And Ahamada. Eze had 2 good runs but spent the rest of the evening losing possession. Andersen lost his passing touch for once. Lerma is a great combative midfielder but next to useless going forward. Clyne had the best game I have seen. Johnstone is much more reliable than Henderson it seems to me. Ozoh and Franca got 20 mins each but didn't do much. They are both fine players and need more game time. Richards has the makings of a fine combative centre half but is really nervous in possession. The midfield experiment needs to be replaced by an incoming loan. Frustrating night. A game we could have won easily with a more positive approach. Thanks for that insight, I find it far more useful than any media corporation's commentary when a fan posts about our games. Perhaps not all doom and gloom then but as you say, the team and therefore performances/results reflect the manager... who IMHO reflects the board.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

In the final analysis we were defeated and never scored against Everton in either FA Cup game.In actual fact privately I was asked about our prospects before the game last night and my message was "Loss without scoring". The grand total of 2 victories in our last 15 games with some abject performances along the way, have really tried the patience of many a supporter.

Seems the media have picked up on l/n 'discontent' with our fans & what/why plus who they(the i) think we should have in charge . . . [Link]

[Link] This is a direct copy and paste from the article: "The final point is a particular bone of contention. Palace have not started a player aged below 21 in the Premier League this season. Two years ago, Palace had the oldest squad in the Premier League and despite promising to lower that, they still have the fourth oldest. When Franca, Jesurun Rak-Sakyi and Ahamada were brought off the bench against Tottenham in late October, Hodgson publicly said: “They didn’t do anything for us”. He later apologised but has still not made any effort to integrate the young talents."

I was there last night thought we played quite well despite the usual defensive line up.Our strikers missed some good chances and they scored from a brilliant free kick.Disappointed he took Eze off and other negative subbs to ‘save’ them for the weekend.I would have taken a win last night over any result against Arsenal.Well done to the 500 or so who went we made more noise than them awful home support from a big crowd in a cup tie.

Yes, including yourself Martin. I couldn't nor wouldn't want to have gone but unreserved admiration and respect for those that did.

Putting all the usual Hodgson chat to one side for a minute, we didn't half miss some good chances last night. Schlupp (I think it was) header from Guehi's cross is straight into the middle of the goal at chest height - do anything vaguely talented with it and it's a goal (e.g. Ayew heading into a corner and down against Brighton). He just has to head it down. Why is Mateta trying to take a touch from Andersen's cross at the end (which he fluffed)? It has pace on it - has to be a side footed half volley, surely?
