Respect the point, which we surprisingly won against a top, quality side, who show ambition, unlike boring 'Royball'

Unless he had a knock, this was a game where Ayew needed to be on for the 90. His ability to hold the ball, move forward, draw fouls and defend might have made the difference in holding on. Eze is a brilliant player but not a battler. Tonight, it might have been better to bring him on if we were 2 up (or down) with a few minutes to go. I think Richard’s has done well but Doucoure he is not. I thought Clyde did well tonight. He kept Mitoma very quiet and was generally solid. I can’t decide if I am happy or sad. At least we are looking and proving to be hard to beat again. Let’s hope Chelsea overdose on Christmas pud. Happy Christmas everyone!

Another piss-poor performance and a point luckily gained. Just one win at home all year. Olise and Mateta again put a shift in but what chance of a decent move is there with a midfield of Hughes, Lerma and Richards. The only way we looked likely to score was via a Brighton mistake, although credit to Hughes, Olise and Ayew for taking advantage when it happened And why wasn't Schlupp used. A starter virtually all season and after getting a good assist last time out cannot even be brought on for the last few minutes - which is basically what his role should be where we are looking for a goal

Great first half but so disappointed with the second. Eze has been great in the middle so why bring him on out on the left? Brighton were clipping balls over the top so I can understand why the defence were sinking deeper, but by sitting deep the equaliser was an inevitability. I'm happy with a point but not with that second half.

we did sit back and defend for most of the second half. its always asking for trouble when you do that. Ayew is an Eagle Edited by PalazioVecchio (21 Dec 2023 10.14pm)

All in all, 2 points from the Etihad and BHA at home is 2 more than I thought we’d have. My belief has been somewhat restored for now and that will do fine for me until Christmas. COYP! Onwards and upwards. Yep agree with you there Nich , its 2 more points than i thought we'd have also . We looked weaker in the second half when they started doubling up on Olise . I put a tenner on for a 1-1 draw when we scored . I dont think the subs made us any better , Eze just didnt look fit or ready or just didnt want to engage , i dont know which . I will be a bit more confident when Sam comes back from injury and Hendo stops playing the ball is made of lava . Roy stayed on the pitch a lot longer than usual dont know if there is anything to read into that , nice to see our fans not booing him off , Respect the point and the manager , Hopefully we will beat the snot out of Chelski next .

If a tip top fresh Jeffrey Schlupp doesn't bully whoever's makeshifting as Chelsea's right back next Wednesday then I can not understand Roy's changes tonight. Good first half performance and the defence were brilliant even if they got away with one or two, but Brighton were just relentless in the second half. 1-1 flatters us, even if our good shape did nullify a lot of attacks.
I ain't got nuthin' funny to say. Sorry. |

For long periods it looked like a Championship side against a Premiership team, especially in the last twenty minutes. Why didn’t we go for the second goal instead of trying to hold on as it was inevitable with them passing us to death that they we’re going to equalise.Henderson looked so nervy it seemed to unsettle our centre backs, in the end I would have taken a point before the game but apart from Mateda who played really well it wasn’t an easy watch tonight.

Somewhat fortunate but we are holding our own against quality sides. Baffled by the subs but there may be a reason. Respect the point.

Relieved we didn't end up losing but very disappointed we didn't show more ambition in the 2nd half.
