At the very best, 'liberal' Muslim clerics make the argument that an apostate can be spared but only if they don't make a fuss about it and certainly don't try to persuade others. Essentially stop believing but don't tell anybody.

Thats it. The most liberal and modern version. Do you agree with that? Or do you think people should be able to try and persuade others to denounce their faith?

They actually argue that it is not for humans to punish anyone who loses their faith, that is something only Allah can do in the afterlife. The only problem comes from public disorder and blasphemy (which, need I remind you, is still a crime in many Christian countries such as Poland and Italy).

Their version of nationalism is different. Nationalism in the context of independence advocates is a desire for national recognition, compared to the nationalism of people likevthe EDL or MAGA is the belief that one's country is infallible and superior to all others - but only if they are in control.

One of the annoying things about the language of politics is that terms have different meanings depending on context because different groups try to appropriate it for their own means. Look at libertarianism. In reality it is a far left ideology created by French philosopher Joseph Déjacque, as a branch of anarcho-communism. However, in the mid-20th century the American right started co-opting the term for themselves.

So, Scottish nationalism is okay because it seeks to break its culture away from something, whereas the EDF is trying to defend English culture and that’s bad?

By ANY kind of measure, then the Left should be diametrically opposed to any kind of growth in Muslim populations in the West. Islam is a belief system that in almost any and every conceivable way at odds with every tenet of Left wing ideology. Far, far more socially Conservative than any extreme 'far Right' Western ideology.

And yet they champion them at the expense of the native population of Europe. Literal insanity that has no rational explanation.

You ever heard of the Jizya ? it's a tax placed upon non-Muslims for the greater good and Welfare of Muslims. Something very familiar among the persecuted jews & christians of the Middle East & North Africa. Often referred to disparagingly as 'Kufirs'.

You want a rational explanation ? is it Labour or the Tories that favour generous lifetime Welfare payments ? and who put a tax upon employed people to finance this ?

Well spotted! This is what happens when I’m checking the meter readings for my EDF account whilst trying to write a question about the EDL!!

Oh dear, found the person who thinks national socialism is socialism. Probably thinks the Democratic Republic of Korea is a democracy too.

oh how enlightened and nice of them. So, that's only 190,000 fellas that want to chop your head off.

and for your observations on the blasphemy laws in Christian Poland......how many heads did they chop off in the last 12 months ? 0 heads ? and how does that compare to Saudi Arabia ?

The difference is that while the wider Muslim population is steadily accepting modernism, secularism and liberalism, those in charge are still old men desperately trying to cling on to a bygone era. Sound familiar?

I don't have a holy book, I'm atheist. And Plato's Republic is very different to the modern definition of Republic, which is a country without a monarchy. Once again, showing how words and meanings change depending on context. A difficult concept to grasp I know but you'll get there one day.
