Good defending by Mitchell stopping another goal.

Good defending by Mitchell stopping another goal. Is that worthy of praise or mitigation for any Mitchell vitriol? I’m not watching so can’t say anything with fact or evidence but I’d struggle to believe we’re unable to compete in a league match solely because of TM. I’d be far more inclined to guess that there are numerous other contributors that I could provide an expletive filled rant complaining about but I’m unhappy in the moment and what would be the point? I’ll be a rugby fan for the foreseeable, albeit probably not by the end of the night, and wait for the next game. Edited by Nicholas91 (21 Oct 2023 4.45pm)
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

Agreed, whi exactly would come in to take Mitchell’s place, or Ward for that matter. The only blame is with those that didn’t think we needed cover in these positions and instead spent a big chunk of our budget on a keeper. Baffling. Exactly. It's down to the management. If they can't see that we have players that are nowhere near good enough for this level then we deserve everything we get. Would Ward, Mitchell, Mateta and Edourd get in any other established premier league side ? I can't see it.

Edited by Nicholas91 (21 Oct 2023 4.45pm) To be fair I'm pretty sure nobody on here has said we are 4-0 down all because of TM. People are rightly pointing out that he's been very poor today. Something that's becoming quite common in my opinion. Howe clearly identified him as a weak link and Newcastle exploited it.

Literally the only positive I can think of today has been the short glimpses of Franca's corners

Some protect him like he’s their kid. He gets caught out of position more often than any left back we’ve had and I thought PVA was poor in that respect. We need competition in the left back spot for no other reason than lifting his performances. I agree with some that it’s not all his fault today but he was at fault for two of the goals. If he is getting overloaded on his side he has to be screaming at the left mid and left attacker to help out. He’s not a junior player, he needs to be more vocal on the pitch.

The former puts in zero effort and can’t do one yard passes and the latter runs around without being able to do the basics like control a football.
