Whether drugs or alcohol was is yet to be known. I heard both Rabbis and Imans pleading on Radio 4 earlier for people not to rush to conclusions about incidents like this. A Muslim with a knife or gun nowadays has earned that badge of terrorist or religious fundamentalist.

Read this today which is both a shame but also wound me up a bit - I've been a long term, distant fan of Omid. Madness to see.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

Presumably shouting ‘Alan’s snack bar’ (or whatever it is), also has other meanings…

To think we are paying for all this nonsense. The Metropolitan 'thought' police, more ridiculous every day. Why not pop round to Ari's delicatessen and clear the shelves out on us, if you have a burglary we will issue you with a note to say you have been. Don't play with a water pistol with your younger sister (if you're black) we will send an armed response unit to traumatise you for life.

Armed police turning up was not the problem. If a member of the public reports that someone has a gun you would not expect an unarmed copper to show up. The issue was that having arrived at the scene it must have been obvious to the officers that it was a water pistol and the report was bogus (assuming the press have reported this correctly.) Anyway that is the issue what they did next. Years ago was my old boss was stopped by an armed police unit looking for an IRA terrorist who they believed was on a bombing run. My boss had the same name and had rented a transit van that day (his son was off to Uni). They didn't shoot him and realised immediately it was a mistake and it all ended amicably. It sounds like these officers did not show any common sense that or the press have misreported the facts. Edited by Badger11 (22 Oct 2023 12.52pm)

Edited by Badger11 (22 Oct 2023 12.52pm) years ago , i would cycle around the financial district on a sunny Sunday. With small backpack for water & lunch. Regularly i sidled up to the coppers doing a checkpoint of all the cars. They routinely waved me to pass.....the boots of the cars were getting the Third Degree. i often made a point of thanking them in a longwinded rambling thick irish accent as i accelerated away. Mostly they never even noticed.

Islam - religion of peace. Gender - be whatever you like. Black people - continue to stab each other, it's somebody else's fault. That's the thought police.
