Apropos the 'Handball' in the Luton v Wolves encounter, in normal circumstances if the ball deflects off a player then hits the arm, it goes unpunished. In the incident in question, the arm was very and unusually high hence the penalty was awarded. The hand was so high that the VAR could not justifiably overturn the referees decision.

Did you note read ANY of the stuff I posted??? It’s not a penalty Willo, the Laws have been updated. Change of Trajectory. Even if you are so stubborn and won’t believe me, you could at least read the article where your mate Mike Dean says it couldn’t have been a penalty.

I understand all the comment about "Deflection "etc, but as Dermot Gallagher asserted, the player's hands were so high above his head accordingly the penalty was awarded. In the circumstances the VAR could not justifiably overturn the referee's decision. VAR has hammered another nail in its coffin today with a monumental error, wrongly saying a Liverpool goal was offside when it wasn’t. Inexcusable! Shocking decision, VAR yet again ruining the game.

I see the PGMOL has apologised already.

Geez, now I don’t like the bin dippers at all but even in normal speed I thought it was onside. Even without the green lines in freeze frame it is as clear as day. Every goal needs checking for offside now. Would take seconds for most , including this one.

Anyway; 3 controversial decisions against one team in a match involving Liverpool. I wonder when that last happened....

Funny it’s Liverpool though Seriously it was that t**t England. Surely no excuse not to demote him. Although I suspect Willo may defend him ( perhaps not after reading the link)

Of course they have, I doubt they gave Villa’s “penalty” a second glance

I was, of course, alluding to CPFC v Liverpool in January last year: 1. An offside Liverpool striker draws the attention of the Palace full-back. A goal is scored whereas the decision should have been offside. 2. A Palace striker is put clean through from an onside position. Contrary to the agreed procedure, the flag is immediately raised and (contrary again) the whistle is blown for offside. Incorrect action and incorrect decision. 3. A Liverpool striker changes direction so as to collide with the Palace goalkeeper. Penalty awarded to the bafflement of all observers and commentators. I don't recall Jürgen Klownn being incensed by any of those decisions or, at least, being a tad humble. As I recall it, he said something like "look, we have to allow the officials to make the decisions while we get on with the game". Edited by YT (01 Oct 2023 8.20am)

I have to say that is a diabolical decision against Diaz. How did that possibly get through, and 'a blind man could see it'. Strange to see Liverpool getting the treatment for a change. There is no redress so basically you get stuffed for 3 points because of this.
