He can get still get there (the likes of Marseille will take him) but the truth is he's missed the boat on a career-changing move. By would he really want to leave Palace now, forego his icon status with the club on the cusp of finally breaking through? You saw the smiles on the faces yesterday; men at work, loving their jobs. I don't mind if Wilf stays or goes at this point (I just want the long-running saga to be over) but really, for him to walk away now would be like the man who's climbed to within ten feet of the summit of Everest deciding to turn back. My guess is that if Parish assures him that he'll make a suitable choice of manager hire and keep the present team together, augmenting it further in the summer for a real tilt at Europe next season, in the end he'll stay. Nothing will persuade Wilf to do that more than the performances in the last six games. Yesterday was the first time I have seen Wilf play for years without moaning at anyone and everyone who he comes into contact with. The difference was huge. Firstly he became a true part of the team and secondly he played really well. We were very balanced and very exciting to watch. It was unfortunate he was upended 20 minutes from the end, picking up a dead leg which forced him off. Poor guy has been battered this season (well all seasons).

I do think being captain is beneficial for him. It doesn't happen that frequently, but when he is he tends to come across a bit more focused. Got to be beneficial that we're playing higher up the pitch and with more attacking players to share the burden too. It means he's getting lots more time 1 on 1 than he did under Vieira. I don't think he's necessarily the best captain for the rest of the team but, to be fair, I'm not sure a captain makes all that difference to the rest of the team in-game these days.

Twice, West Ham players were allowed to run towards the front post, got their head to the ball and flicked it on, where a West Ham player headed the second ball into the net. For the first, Doucoure who was marking Antonio was ball-watching and the W.Ham striker got free to head unmarked into the goal.

Edouard has to be sold ! He is not always a key starter because 2) he seems to trip over the ball most time 3) he seems to get confused before the ball arrives 4) other players seem to avoid passing now as they lack confidence in him I would like for Roy to call back a couple of loan players to blood

Where is triple t when you need him for some summer entertainment. I hope, like the swallows, he returns to tell us why we and Parish are idiots
If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities. |
