You aren't still going on about the Nazis are you?

Subverting the popular vote to stop a party you don't like....Well, if his party did that you'd call him a Nazi wouldn't you....sounds like the usual, 'it's ok if we do it'.

Unlike the lying parties we are use to this guy will do what he says he'll do and what people voted for.

You aren't required to like it.

Just as I didn't like immigration into my country of hundreds of thousands for decades.

Yet I would be told I was living in a democracy.

Holland on the other hand are known globally to be very liberal.

The elite are doing a great job recruiting for the very cause they claim to despise. Perhaps the moderate voter is getting a little tired of the lies from centre parties and are now looking elsewhere.

If the far right do rise in Europe the blame lies with the elite.

I truly hope that the Wilders is kept from governing. Let some hashed-together left-wing coalition make things even worse for a few years and drive even more people rightwards. This has to be a long-term strategy and by keeping out the people who got the most seats, then the optics are fantastic for the Right.

Let the lefties f*** up, as they always do.

I like the Dutch PR system, when you look at Wilders his win you realise that 2.3 million Dutch citizens voted for him and I think he has 35 only or so out of 150 parliamentary seats, far from the British media's idea of an election triumph.

To actually govern he will probably have to embark on a lengthy process (the last took 271 days) of trying to work out a coalition, the others may gang up on him anyway.

It is a given, he realises it, that he will have to drop his extreme ideas which are probably unconstitutional/illegal as well, in order to be PM.

So it is working against extremism in my view.

I suppose Italy and Argentina results were freak results too

Can see the two other dutch party's joining and the "far right" party will be opposition.

Tide is well and truly turning if other countries and governments don't start listening to the will of the people we will continue to see more "freak" results. Yes I'm looking over at macron who was very lucky at the last french election.

Wilders’ party did not win a majority! They topped the polls. Very different. I hope the government that forms does listen to the will of the people. Most don’t want Wilders.

No it means reading more facts than headlines. Or prejudiced opinions from those with agendas.

We have seen on here the real reasons why some call for proportional representation. I called it out previously of course but here you see the naked truth written out in text.

They end up creating the extremism they say they are against.

I doubt the Dutch will accept a situation where such a clear winner isn't reflected in the result.....He has a mandate.

When things like what happened in Poland happen.....which was a far closer result the consequences aren't going to go well as people see the injustice here.

Do you just spin this stuff for the sake of argument, or are you genuinely bonkers?

It is clear that Europe as a whole is tired of being sold the mass immigration lie.

It is destroying the fabric of European society on several levels.

The only thing that is clear in the above is that you have an opinion. Which is not shared by me, or many others.

Finding ways to stem the flow of illegal immigration is an objective shared by almost everyone. There’s no need to get excited about it and even less point. What’s needed are practical ideas that work and deliver the desired outcomes. That’s not so easy and I have never heard one from you.

Accepting the need for controlled immigration to meet current vacancies in vital areas is something I think we all ought to do. Starving industry of the tools to allow them to function and grow is not in anyone’s interest.

Ensuring such immigrants either come on short term contracts or if they intend to make their home in their adopted country, commit to respecting and supporting the culture are important, but different issues.

Isn't that proportional representation like you've been recommending as a better system?
