Buy low, Sell high! What we need is a talent pipeline to replace assets that command an attractive price and I am sure that is the basic business model for the club. The investment in the Academy will pay off. We have to show incoming talent that there is a pathway to the big six - we just need a manager that can attract talent and a scouting team to identify it. Not every one is going to make it though. Jake O'Brien is a good example; not at the level right now to replace current incumbents and deserves to be permanently competing elsewhere, where he will succeed.

Twitter (or X or whatever it calls itself now) is abuzz with talk that there is a 'selective' release clause (whatever that is) of £47m in Ducoure's contract. Hopefully bollocks but this is just one of many that's doing the rounds. [Tweet Link]

Once they get wind of this idiots post, it'll be all over & we will lose him . . . IMO.

We couldn't give anyone away three years ago, now that we have talent expect other teams to test us out - and finally we can take proceeds and reinvest. Its a much better business model than buying high mediocrity and selling low .... like we did with Benteke and Sakho. Of course lower division talent will come, as we become a reliable and solid stepping stone to a big six. Once our pipeline from the academy gets solid, we can aspire to consistent top ten finish.

I disagree that we are following the Brighton model, although it looks as if it may be forced upon us reluctantly. It may be if we lose our star names a similar model to Brighton may be forced upon us , but I would contend that it could delay our progress.
