So they should Palhinha is the real deal, Doucoure, is getting there. Regardless Doucoure is worth every bit as much to us, so don’t sell unless it’s for absolutely silly money, and that’s a big risk in its self because we are running out of time to spend it sensibly

Buy low, Sell high!

What we need is a talent pipeline to replace assets that command an attractive price and I am sure that is the basic business model for the club. The investment in the Academy will pay off.

We have to show incoming talent that there is a pathway to the big six - we just need a manager that can attract talent and a scouting team to identify it. Not every one is going to make it though. Jake O'Brien is a good example; not at the level right now to replace current incumbents and deserves to be permanently competing elsewhere, where he will succeed.

Think we have shown that we are a selling club without any doubt….we will continually be struggling to survive losing our better players. Anybody with any ambition won’t consider us.

Twitter (or X or whatever it calls itself now) is abuzz with talk that there is a 'selective' release clause (whatever that is) of £47m in Ducoure's contract. Hopefully bollocks but this is just one of many that's doing the rounds.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

The bloke waffling about Doucoure's release clause is a chancer with just 134 followers. Even I've got more than that

Thankfully, current click-bait is not reporting it. Once they get wind of this idiots post, it'll be all over & we will lose him . . . IMO.

Disagree. We are proving to be an excellent step up to the top. As are Brighton.

We couldn't give anyone away three years ago, now that we have talent expect other teams to test us out - and finally we can take proceeds and reinvest. Its a much better business model than buying high mediocrity and selling low .... like we did with Benteke and Sakho. Of course lower division talent will come, as we become a reliable and solid stepping stone to a big six. Once our pipeline from the academy gets solid, we can aspire to consistent top ten finish.

Which means that we are a selling club, along with them further south.

I disagree that we are following the Brighton model, although it looks as if it may be forced upon us reluctantly.
I would contrast De Zebri (who towards the end of the season was openly inviting bids for his players) with Hodgson who upon signing his new contract said he wanted to not only keep the squad that finished the season but add to it to attempt a push into the top 10.
I would contrast the interviews I’ve heard with Bloom and Barber , who openly admit to looking to sell players at the right price, with the interviews with Parish who has never sought to push our stars out of the door.
He even had to be persuaded by Freedman and Hodgson to sell AWB as the price was too good to refuse.

It may be if we lose our star names a similar model to Brighton may be forced upon us , but I would contend that it could delay our progress.
We appear to be struggling to replace Zaha and Olise , let alone possibly Doucoure , Guiata, and one of the centre backs.
In general Brighton have replacements lined up before sales are made.
We don’t.

I agree players who want a premier league opportunity may be attracted…but these will either be young and untested or from the lower leagues. Can we survive in the
premier league on this basis ? It will always be a struggle and to avoid relegation an achievement. There certainly won’t be any progression that’s as good as it will get.
