Yep, you're right Mr R, he is only 20, but why is that an issue? The papers are full of stories about Kane who has just beaten Greaves' goal scoring record at Spurs. He scored his first for them when he was 18. I know the arguments for giving Rak-Sakyi more experience at a lower level, but personally, I would like to see him given more game time at Palace right now. I guess we have to bow to the knowledge and experience of our coaching staff to do what's best for him and the club. The management and coaching staff are clearly of the opinion that it is in the interests of the player and the club that Rak-Sakyi plays regularly rather than be a bit-part player in the PL. A young Harry Kane played on loan in the Championship and League One, and David Beckham had a loan spell in the Third Division. Someone has just informed me that Brighton have 23 players out on loan. Simply making the point that we can afford to take our time with him. Outside of 2 appearances for the first team, he's only got 25 professional games under his belt. Kane had a couple of Championship and a Prem loan before playing for Spurs. Personally I'd want JEs to start next season at a Champ club, and recall him in Jan if he's flying. League 1 - Prem is one hell of a step up.

Every Millwall fan I know struggles to recall him to any great extent and I previously worked with a Norwich season ticket holder who quite angrily (which was out of character) expressed that he thought Kane was rubbish (to be polite) in his few games there. So perhaps does not tell you everything.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

Kane is a bit of a ridiculous measuring stick to use - if memory serves it was Jude Bellingham earlier in the thread... I think we need to be a bit more realistic as to JRS's potential which is certainly not on the same planet as a Kane or Bellingham. I think I made the comment previously that JRS is older than Olise - he may well make it as a Premier League player but even that is probably best case scenario and far from guaranteed. Sullay KaiKai looked good in league one aged 20, and he's still playing there now.

Olise was born in Dec 2001 whereas JRS was born in Oct 2002.

Absolutely, but players do develop at different rates. The important question is: Given the way he has taken to League 1 football and the esteem with which he seems to be held by Clown fans, it seems that he is. There is a genuine possibility IMO that Championship clubs will be wanting his services next season and if he performs in that league he will have a good chance of becoming a PL player. A long way to go, I know but not impossible. Let's not forget that Gallagher's first loan spell was with the Clowns in League 1 before moving up to Swansea in the Championship etc.

I’m quite glad JRS has stayed at Charlton for the rest of the season. Clearly it’s important just like any other young player he gets games, and it allowed to make mistakes, and learn without fear of losing his place in the side. Charlton are mid-table L1 might have a squeak of the play-offs, like to try and play a bit, and therefore you couldn’t really hope for a better situation for him. Let him learn his trade and see where he is across the remainder of his contract. There are quite a few players ahead of him in the pecking order, and I’m sure a few behind him too. I think you can see he has an eye for goal, hopefully he’ll get a chance in red and blue again let us see what he does with it.
