No-one in Cornwall, that I know, is hiding from anyone or anything. Some people prefer to live in cities, some in more rural locations. Each have their own reasons. It's their free choice. I thought you approved of free choice!

The number of immigrants I see here is rising sharply. Both to fill job vacancies, particularly in the health sector, but also as tourists. I was in Newlyn today and the number of guys working in the fish docks, who were obviously immigrants, outnumbered those who weren't.

I have little doubt that over time that change will arrive. It always does. I also think it will be handled here in a more measured way than appears to be the case elsewhere.

Forced integration is probably what you mean, and that is both counter productive and foolish. Natural integration is healthy.

I sometimes think that you believe people like me want to see widespread permanent changes to our culture, whilst actually,. I neither want nor expect them.

What I expect is the gradual evolution of what is considered normal to continue, just as it has always done. What I want is to ensure we manage that effectively, without social upheaval.

I have frequently proposed a radical way to assist the process, which removes the teaching, and influence, of religion from all our schools. We are where we are but doing what I suggest would hasten the move to where we need to be.

Managing immigration is a completely different subject which presents challenges no-one has yet solved, but which Brexit has worsened. No-one wants to see gangs of people smugglers being as successful as they are at present.
