My grandmother was from Mayo and Grandfather from Carlow, distinctly remember two portraits hanging proudly in the house, one of Pope JPII & one of her majesty. Her, as she was, transcended much to be widely admired. A real loss. Some very nice sentiments posted on here this far must say. Is anyone on the bbs actually a palace fan or is it just a front for incels BTW??? I imagine she would smile at that-2 portraits I mean!

As much as I stopped being a supporter of our particular Monarchy some years ago it's still with some sadness that I hear of the Queen's passing. She has been a background presence throughout all our lives and it's an end of an era.

I just don't know what to say. I've lost my Gran, my mum, my aunt and the Queen. They feel like similar losses. How did that happen - no question mark.

Then they got old and passed the baton on to their grandchildren.

In theory I want a republic however I cannot ignore the depth of feeling for the Queen around the world. Why would hundreds of politicians in this country and abroad when writing their memoirs always include a royal meeting? Why did US tennis pay tribute to her yesterday? She's wasn't even a tennis fan. Simply put she mattered to a lot of people around the world and was the personification of our nation. God bless you Ma'am.

That's because all the profits, after paying the working/living costs for himself & his family, go to his charities - it's a major funding source for his Prince's Trust which has helped so many underprivileged young people get a start in business life.
