After Stokes’ generous declaration I suspect England may have to contemplate defeat after posting 650+ runs in their first innings before lunch on the second day!

This wicket did not deserve a game of this magnitude. Whatever the result Stokes should be applauded. Some of his tactics and field placings are off the scale. If test cricket needed a saviour he is it.

Disagree on that.

Test cricket isn't saved by treating it in that fashion, unless you think that losing matches overseas increases attendences.....well, it will for them.

On that pitch that declaration was reckless, even if we win that's still the case.

I thought that at first but then I am stuck with an old fashioned cricket mindset. Test cricket has to evolve otherwise it will die. Aggressive attacking fearless cricket should be applauded.

Stokes declaration only benefits the opposition, not England, if he had batted sensibly and England batted until the end they would still have a day to beat pakistan and a score of around 370/380.

As it is if pakistan are careful and only have to score at just over 3 an over, they should win.

If there were anything in the pitch, England would be in a strong position. The pitch looks flat and the pitch doctor will be out tonight anyway.

Well, you certainly got that.

As for test cricket, I don't see it dying personally and I also don't see what Stokes did there catching on.

You were spot on Bexley Eagle, so kudos.

It was a great bowling display by England and the risk worked. Too risky for me but all's well that ends well to quote a rather famous Englishman.

That was test cricket at its finest on a wicket that offered very little. It was a gripping days play where at both lunch and tea pakistan were probably favourites. That session after tea where they bowled 20 overs, took 5 wickets for 11 runs is quite extraordinary.
