I was about to mention that myself Lanzo. The system certainly had Villa foxed. I don't think they were expecting it. It helped to neutralized their midfield.

Living only 6 miles from Villa Park I had an easy trip today.

I agree with those who said we were the better team, BUT we didn't (as PV said post-game) make the right choices in the last third.

We certainly deserved at least a point.

Two points lost today. Why don’t we shoot from shooting positions??
Most of the team played well, including Lula, for the first time this season!!
Looking forward to Everton now.
Most bizzare part today was the pissed bloke banging the corrugated iron sheeting as a makeshift drum. Said he has been drinking since 7am!

The game is about scoring goals. Whilst we played better than them we didn’t deserve to win because we have nothing in front of goal. Playing like Man City but scoring like Norwich ain’t going to cut it in this league. The draw was the fair result.

I dont agree with that . If the ref was not bias he would have sent off at least 1 AV player and we would have scored more . How can you say taht was a fair result , did you even see the game , thre reffering of it was comical at times , Fair result my arse !

We did indeed BUT then looked at our most vulnerable when Villa attacked in those final 6 or 7 minutes as their midfield took control of the game.

IMHO had we started 433 we would have lost that game.

Thats why Vieira has a lauded plan B, which Roy didn't seem to have.

Yes I watched the entire game. Sorry, just cannot agree that referee’s decisions help you score more goals. We got in the right positions, we created half opportunities, however we are just not ruthless enough with the final pass or individual’s finishing skills are not up to scratch.

PV himself mentioned it after the match as have numerous other commentators and posters on here. You cannot rely on a ref to help you out in a match, we’ve had enough crap decisions this season to know this. It’s a fair result because they scored one goal and we scored one goal, no others reason.

Back from the game. Probably should have won but a draw was the least we deserved.

Formation was odd. Didn’t work for Semi Final and didn’t work today either. We have played 4-3-3 for 90% of the season and can’t see why we we should change this now.
Hopefully that’s the last we see if Luka in a palace shirt. Useless in open play, pathetic set pieces and his insistence in captaincy is laughable.

Thought the formation worked well. Only problem was our final ball or the slowness in making a quicker decision to pass rather than shoot. Wrong decision making with Zaha being the biggest culprit. With that said I thought the formation with 5 in midfield a lot of the time gave Eze more ball time. Villa changed that in the second half and Eze didn’t get as much ball or space. We should have wrapped it up in the first half and then we would not be questioning the formation? We were the better team and should have won.

While I dont disagree, I actually thought this was the best he has played all season!
Beneteke was anonymous when he came on.
Villa are a dirty team. They kicked CG and WZ all day and the ref ignored it.
The reason we didnt win was because we didnt take our chances. Simple as that. We had lshooting oppotunities and no one would have a go. 2 points dropped.

Absolutely clueless. Luka was great tonight. PV said so himself. And you realise manager picks the captain, right? Give me a break.

That's my take as well on the formation and our poor decision making in the final third.

PS. I'll add to the Luka debate by saying I was disappointed to see him start but have to confess that I thought he had a decent game.
