Palace Old Geezer Midhurst 28 Mar 24 2.51pm | |

My wife lived in Copers Cope Road before we were married in the church that is occasionally seen in Palace videos taken at the Academy. Her mother later moved to Shortlands. We enjoyed many pleasant times in and around Beckenham at various eating and drinking establishments when we were 'courting'. Mind you, that was over 53 years ago. During a visit to Beckenham Place Park last year the area still had a convivial air about it, but this stabbing incident on the train was shocking to see on the news last night and it demonstrates how all corners of society in this country are impacted by mindless behaviour.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

It's because it is a middle class area, this stuff goes on all the time in inner city London and unless there is a juicy video doesn't make the news.

I had heard, way back in the 80s, that 'The Beckenham' Public House had to close temporarily following a Police drugs raid.

I recall the 'Single Separates Clubs' where unattached men and women ventured hopefully to meet those with whom they wanted to strike up a friendship. To set the record straight,I was not a member of any such club.
