Great that he'll have a full pre- season with us for the management to decide what will be best for his progression. Well done Dougie, sounds like he pulled out all of the stops on this one.

Looks to have talent and potential from the clips available of him.

A long term replacement for Wilf perhaps. How PV views him fitting in at present is anyones guess but potentially a very good signing.

Fairplay to Dougie if this is true. Sounds almost comical the lengths we have to go to to sign a player. Maybe Dougie is now driving to Lens as we speak to pick up Doucoure in the Palace minibus. I don't think it's comical at all. Not all transfer decisions (by players) are purely financial. Most want to feel wanted and there are plenty of examples of players choosing clubs because they had a better experience with that club during the recruitment process. If the club is prepared to drive to your house to get the deal done, vs another who sends a text message, it can clearly make a big difference.

It demonstrates to a young player, on the verge of making a career defining decision, that we really want him. And the f2f time Dougie would have had with him would have been vital in explaining his role in the squad and our long term ambitions for him. It also shows that from the club's perspective we are doing everything we can to land our desired targets. So remember that when we miss out on someone, it isnt going to be due to lack of effort.

Ye I'd certainly agree... after reading the article it was more just the comical vision I had in my head of Dougie stalking the lad and wee Malcolm probably barely understanding a word Dougie is saying

We also have Eze and Olise who both have Nigerian connections which might have helped.

I notice that while he has represented England U16, he has also played for the Netherlands at U15 level.

I think he's one we're going to have to see before judgement. We've had our share of Max Meyers over the years, or whatever his name was. Edited by ASCPFC (29 Jun 2022 2.58pm)

One possible word of caution is that Arsenal supposedly let him go as a youth player due to concerns over his work ethic. Sometimes that is the kick up the proverbial a player needs, but we shall see. Unlike Olise and Eze, I doubt he's been brought in as someone who will immediately challenge for a starting sport, but you never know. An exciting addition nonetheless.
