I agree, this all sounds perfectly sensible. We all have a different path in life and it's all too easy to pontificate about what someone else should do when we're not in their shoes. That has to though, be set within understood realities though. As you say a biological woman is a woman, and a trans woman can never be that, and so language, sense and law should factor that in rather than magic away differences that will always be there. Law already makes a distinction. Equalities law and the gender recognition act makes a distinction. The percentile of the population who identify as trans remain the sex of their birth, until they gain a gender recognition certificate. Those that do gain GRC by meeting a linear criteria over a period of two years, are a percentile of the percentile.

There are only a tiny percentage of trans people. Only the most extreme of them would expect to be recognized as actual women and be allowed, for example, to compete in women's sport. Anyone else who would support such extremism, is either being paid to, or has only self interest. It is a non story being kicked around by the media and being taken seriously by the usual dim witted lefty civil servant types.

I doubt even most trans people have any kind of ardent belief regarding this sports issue, because it clearly doesn't make a lot of sense. It's more like an attempt to cheat really, based on physicality. Much like those who take steroids to create are perpetually in denial, it doesn't surprise me that someone with a male physique at massive advantage could convince themselves that they're somehow not cheating based on duff science. You can't blame women one bit for trying to uphold the integrity of the sport, rather than turn it into some kind of tnaything goes. Sports bodies are making the right decisions.

Why should the feelings of a trans person be more important than those of a female athlete who's trained for years?
