Many a pundit has said in the past, Benteke doesn’t anticipate the ball being put into the danger area, he just doesn’t have that desire to attack the ball like a proper centre forward, he wants it put on a plate all the time And when it is put on a plate he invariably heads over / wide, shoots straight at the keeper / the corner flag. Apart from his first season his stats are truly awful. When adding the fee and salary into the equation on top of his lack of goal scoring I'd suggest he has been one of the worst pieces of business the club has ever done.

Shouldn't the person crossing the ball look up and try to find our striker? (See...I can do that do) Clueless comments, the attacker needs to anticipate, he can see the play, the crosser doesn't always get time to look up

and how many times did/do we see WZ or AT make clearance from defence as Benteke did/does from corners etc. He is a centre forward, or supposed to be, not a centre half FFS

Middle ground here. Benteke needed – even deserved – better service than he received for the past few seasons. However, he has also missed or flubbed far too many of the good opportunities he has been given. His hold-up play is better than that of our other strikers, but on balance I think they (Edouard, Mateta, even Eze, if he played striker) would have finished many more chances than Benteke has done. To make a rough comparison, we all know just how hard Ayew works and how much his energy means to the club. He plays fine defense up and down the pitch and he regularly wins free kicks in useful positions. But Olise seems to possess a knack for producing goals that exceeds Ayew's. With Benteke and Ayew on the pitch, we control the ball more in the attacking half of the pitch, but with Edouard (or maybe even Mateta, or Wilf as striker) and Olise I think we'd end up scoring more goals and earning a few more points.

One of his greatest moments was (or could have been) this season though, when a superb bullet header of a goal was ruined by Marc Guehl foolishly fouling a defender.

Benteke, apart from his first season has been a total waste of space and as someone said earlier probably with hindsight the worst bit of transfer business this club has ever done, had it not been for the fact that his goals in the first full season with us probably kept us in the EPL that year and the income generated since then by being EPL has been significant. It is definitely time to off load him, even as a free just to get away from paying the ridiculous salary that he still steals from the club each month. The trouble is who wants a striker who can't score, can't run, has no vision, is lazy, frightened of getting in to six yards box, spends most of his time when on the pitch jogging around around in circles in the middle of the park, keeping as far away from the action as possible and then when he get a chance to score he finds it easier to miss!

Chris Wood is far Superior to Benteke, 44 goals in last 4 season, compared to the carthorses 16 That’s not true. Benteke’s a better striker. Benteke in that Burnley team would be lethal. Wood is bang average.

Benteke can be useful in certain games and at certain times during the match, but what he should be is a squad player on £30 to 35,000 a week. I would have no problem with that. But having a player on a cushy contract without getting VFM is a sad fact of the game today.

I appreciate your views but frankly he can't even score against lower league teams when we have played him in cup matches, if he plays against Hartlepool its certain he will not score and he will not like the crunching tackles that he will have to face, a chocolate radiator would be more use!

Didn't require service then, just had a right good go. Not sure if his move to Liverpool changed his thinking on what he should be doing as a centre forward but we haven't seen that type of play from him. Frustrating as it is clear he has it in the locker.
