Anyone able to foresee the future ought to be very wealthy. We can predict many things with some confidence, but no-one knows those events which will blow the ship off course.

Sometimes ignoring something is a positive response to the unwelcome.

The quote came to mind when I watched a USA report of two nights of BLM rioting when businesses were looted and burned to the ground. ‘Fiery but mostly peaceful protests’ was how CNN captioned the events as its correspondent dissembled in front of burning buildings.

So are you suggesting the report was wrong? I haven't seen it but nor did I witness the events in person, and assume you didn't either.

Perhaps, although there was some "fiery destruction" by out of control nutjobs and looters taking advantage of a situation, most of what happened was indeed peaceful, but not shown. Burning buildings are more dramatic and feed the public thirst for sensationalism.

I don't know. Do you?

Are you suggesting that views cannot be taken on such events without witnessing them in person?
The particular subset of BLM rioting that was being reported on was in Kenosha, Wisconsin. A state of emergency was declared and the National Guard activated. City property valued at $2 million was destroyed by rioters, including garbage trucks, street lights and traffic signals. Kenosha's mayor requested $30 million in aid from the state to cover the extensive damage. Damage to private property could be as high as $50 million, according to estimates from the Kenosha Area Business Alliance. This includes the 100-year-old Danish Brotherhood Lodge which was burned down when 40 buildings were destroyed and an additional 100 buildings damaged.

Yet disemblers like yourself still trot out the line of ‘largely peaceful’.

I don't think anyone has an issue with peaceful protest, whether we agree with the protest aims or not.

However, the enormous levels of damage to property, both private and public was not that.

We know that if the criminals had been from the Proud Boys or from the right generally that these same people would be singing a very different tune.

This is after a white racialist judge directed a jury to acquit a white youth who had shot dead 2 innocent people?

They had it coming.

I can only hope that you never have to suffer personal loss or damage due to criminals feeling justified in harming what you own...and then get some idiot posting how you have.

You are of course completely ignorant of all the black people who get acquitted.

One of whom was released on that very day on the basis of self defence.

You of course aren't interested.

The rioters were clairvoyant then?
The rioting that we are discussing was before the Rittenhouse event where the two men (one a convicted child rapist) shot dead in self-defence were white. So hardly a 'racialist judge'.

As for 'they had it coming'. What a warped mind someone must have to think it right that businesses should be looted and burned down because of some perceived police/judicial wrong. I presume you also think the Reeves family had it coming in Croydon in 2011?

That's no answer. Neither of us witnessed the ACTUAL event that this reporter was covering. Not a sequence of well reported other events. This may have been an indication that the looting and burning was giving way to more peaceful protest.

I don't know, any more than you do.

It is utter nonsense to suggest that a view can only be taken if one witnessed the actual event. I've never witnessed a murder but I disapprove of that as well.

I am interested, enough to take your link.

'The judge. The jury. The defendant.

It’s white supremacy in action.

This system isn’t built to hold white supremacists accountable. It’s why Black and brown folks are brutalized and put in cages while white supremacist murderers walk free.'

Thanks for the link....
